Description For those who don't know what synaesthesia is, it's when some senses of the body overlap. Most commonly, letters and numbers are perceived with color associated to certain symbols. Other examples are that some shapes or feelings would be able to be smelled, sound might have color, and taste might be perceived as shapes or associated with certain sounds.

In my case, I associate colors to letters and numbers. Letters are not as strongly "colorful" as numbers, as the colors most often help in pattern recognition, like license plates, room numbers, and addresses and PO boxes. Letters are memorized with spelling and sounds, so not as strongly with colors in my case.

It's not as clear as this, however. The first symbol is the most dominant, so the rest of the number or word takes after it with a touch of the individual colors.

In this set of my perception, the letter O, Q, and X cannot be perfectly represented, as I almost think I see them with a different spectrum. The numbers 0 and 1 can't be represented with flat color, as 0 is transparent and 1 is pearly yellow, and they both reflect the colors of the numbers around them.

If my room number was 301, it would feel strongly red. If I accidentally walked on the wrong floor and stood in front of room 201, it would feel too green before I would consciously recognize that it's the wrong floor and room. If my room number was 410, it would seem golden, as the orange 4 would be reflected in the pearly yellow 1 and transparent 0, but if it was 351, the red 3, dark blue 5, and yellow 1 would all stand out independently strong.

So there's a system of how it works, but it's up to my mind and has no direct rules.

It also bugs the crap out of me when people color their letters differently than this! It's just a mental irritation, not something I actually make a fuss over, because I know better.

Just put this out there for anyone who thinks it might be interesting.
