The precious gal that is rightfully loved, Brightheart! What is there to say about her that hasn't already been said, she's a great character, and one of the ONLY disabled characters in warriors that actually gets to keep aiming for their goals and wants in life. That kinda says more about the series and how flawed it is in terms of ableism rather than Brightheart as a character, but it does show how much she went through to end up with a happy life. She got held back by her leader, then got mangled in a dog attack, the same attack that lead a good friend of hers to be killed, and is then made to spend the rest of her apprenticeship with the name Lostface. Ik Bluestar had things going on (ik she was depressed and paranoid, but apparently she also had dementia, which if that's true, it does explain her actions a bit more, tho it doesn't make them good or understandable still), but she did not have to put that on a child that just survived a traumatic event. And then there's the scene with her and Cloudtail, the scene that firmly cemented their relationship as being one of the most adorable in the series, the scene where she sees her scarred face for the first time. It's such a sweet scene, and it really shows how much Cloudtail actually loves her, and also gives him a more deeper personality than just Firestar's nephew who's also an atheist. While it isn't personally my favourite in the series, it is definitely up there, and deserves all the praise it gets! Didn't expect to go this far depth into a character that has had everything good said about her, but here we are, she deserves it!
For her design, I wanted to make her the prettiest cat I've ever drawn, as I like the headcanon that even with her scars, which can be seen as off-putting or scary, her beauty still shows. I just wanted her sweet and kind personality to shine through, especially in her eyes, which are quite different to what I've drawn before. I want to explore more unique shapes in my character designs, and Brightheart is kinda the start of that! I took her ginger colours from Brackenfur as I wanted the two sweethearts from Frostfur's litter to share similarities (not saying that Cinderpelt isn't a sweetheart btw, but she's not canonically ginger so she can't really share the same colours). I also took Frostfur's eye colour, similar to Brackenfur!
