Mmmm... Getting more and more used to Octane. I don't have the money for it, but I will have, one day. I already have a decent nVidia 670 video card, and the tests I've done with the demo version have convinced me that it's a very good alternative to Firefly.

I have many test renders to post yet... it's quite fast to make them, because I use a lot of earlier saved pz3 files
Yeah, one has to buy both Octane render standalone and the plug-in for Poser. Combo price is 329 euros.
nVidia 670 sounds good, has a bit more cores than mine. How many textures can it swallow?
Yes, Octane is good for more realism and it's much easier to get a nice looking light for the scene than with Poser Firefly.
Exactly, alternative is the word... there are definitely many pros and cons with using Octane or Firefly, depending on what kind of image or style one is going for

I suppose that the number of textures depends on the quantity of RAM and my video card has only 2Gb. But if I've read the specs correctly, your video card's heart is 10-12% faster. If I reach the video card's limits, I may consider adding RAM if it's possible. But first, I have to buy the Octane combo, that's sure
Nevertheless, I really rejoice in advance to buy that combo: less than 12 minutes for this? Even if there's one of Alfaseed's great hair props? wow

The number of textures allowed has something to do with CUDA and varies with different nVidia GPU's. Amount of VRAM does not affect it. There is a "Image File Statistics" button in Octane plug-in, the "Max" value for LDR RGBA and LDR Grayscale is the number of textures the graphic card supports... or put mouse pointer on bottom row in Octane viewport and numbers appear.
Most of the scenes I've played with take less than 1 GB VRAM. Only one scene so far needed more than 2 GB VRAM. Furnished room with 5 people. It's the number of textures that becomes the problem when adding stuff. I've hit that limit many times with scenes that need less than 1 GB VRAM.
Some hairs look good and some look bad with Octane. I need to test and try fiddling with parameters.

Ah, ok: it says 64 RGBA and 32 grayscale, a lot less compared to yours, indeed.

I would then say you are more likely to hit that limit, than the 2 GB VRAM.
When I bought my GTX760 4 GB card, I did not know to check the number of textures supported when comparing cards. Now 144 and 68 sounds good, but I haven't looked at the numbers to see if there is any difference to the higher end of 700 series.

I understand: my video card isn't worth at all if I understand correctly
Poser's PrintInfo script says: 129 image-maps and 129 bump-maps
For this one:
It says: 116 image-maps and 116 bump-maps
Even with two character, it's still too much:
It says 79 image-maps and 79 bump-maps
I'll wait quite a few months before buying a better video card.

It seems to count differently. I loaded a scene I rendered with Octane. Octane says 43+49 textures, Poser PrintInfo says 91+91.
Another scene, Octane says 61+68 and Poser PrintInfo says 191+191.

I think I like the octane one better
