"Why do I still live? What more do you want from me? I gave everything I had to you, to them. Look what they've made of our dream. This bloated, rotting carcass of an empire is driven not by reason and hope but by fear, hate and ignorance. Better that we had all burned in the fires of Horus' ambition than live to see this." - Roboute Guilliman

Totally true, since Guilliman DID conquer more worlds than everyone but Horus(who had help from Corax to soften up defenses before the Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus took the credit) and established a Great and bountiful empire that endured the Shadow Crusade and stands to this day. Truly a magnificent piece that brings out his glory and charisma as a beacon of hope!

Are those chaos warhounds and the Word Bearers legion in the background? This can only mean one thing.......

Your depiction of Guilliman is so magnificent that even the Apocalyptic ****storm that was Calth now looks like a Paradise World.
WONDERFUL!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LynxC In reply to s8ord [2010-12-05 09:00:44 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

s8ord In reply to LynxC [2010-12-05 14:04:47 +0000 UTC]

I love this piece. From the use of the Ultramarines' Greco-Roman motif to the soaring, majestic stance of the Primarch gesturing to the viewer, but what I love best, I think, is the arrestingly, wonderfully strange sight of the men of Warhammer 40,000, the "Dark Millenium" standing tall under a bright blue sky.

Maybe, but the cover art for the Horus Heresy series tends to suggest otherwise.

This pic is actually pretty good, though I dislike the Primarch... why? Just look at his face! What is he so happy about?!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LynxC In reply to jorgeelmuerte [2010-06-22 11:27:58 +0000 UTC]

He is so happy, because the sun is shining, the day is fine, Ultramarines is the best and most powerful legion and the heretics will be defeated. Definitely.
In fact I dislike the vision of Warhammer universe as totally grim totally dark setting where is no place for smile. And if one desided to draw smiling Primarch, it should be Guilliman. I believe he was quite optimistic person, unlike Dorn or Corax, or some others. Why shouldn't he be happy?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jorgeelmuerte In reply to LynxC [2010-06-22 14:25:44 +0000 UTC]

Well there's no reason why he shouldn't be happy, I mean, he is one of the Emperor's sons and all. It's just as you described about the grimness of the warhammer 40.000 universe; you get so use to it that pictures of space marines with cheerful faces and broad smiles just seem, well, out of place.
Anyways nice pic you got there.

Yes, I know. I just like to draw them in that way. Some people like Sisters of Battle drawn in pin-up style, and I like happy marines

This is a very original way to interpret 40K. I'm not sure i can get my head around it. It has a very... rustic fell to it, as opposed to the usual gritty look you imagine this universe. Either way the technique and workshop is fantastic and I congratulate you on originallity.
