Description I know it's each artist's own business if they want to disable comments, but I find it a little sad when I see controversial or opinionated stamps on which the artist has disabled comments right off the bat. The least you can do is leave them on, and if people start giving you crap, you can either ignore them or turn them off AFTER the trouble starts. Don't disable them just because you're too much of a wuss to face people disagreeing with you.

Note: Notice how, to make my point, I have left my comments open, as I always do with my stamps. Yeah, I know some people will see this and get all butthurt about it, and they'll probably try to bitch me out for it. But unlike some artists, I'm not going to be a wimp and close the comments off before they have a chance. Because I can handle it like a mature person.

Unless it's on YouTube because YouTube comments are extremely fucking stupid.

I don't take anyone who disables comments the moment they upload controversial stamps seriously.

Only time I'd disable comments is if people were all falling out.
Spamming my inbox with their argument.

Other than that, if someone says they didn't like something in a harsh way.
I wouldn't disable it.

I'm so with you, but then there are worst cause there are people who think that they will only get good comments and when they don't they either act try and make you look bad and then block you you so you can't respond or just block you straight away.

WTF people are here to get good and bad comments. So if the don't want both then they shouldn't be here. No work (stamp, drawing, painting, story, etc...) is perfect and people should just deal with that.

Oh and ay late even good stamps I've been finding the woth-out comment boxes. So I don't onlt thing it's the cowards that are doing it. I thing it is also the people who want any comments to deal with, which I thing they are f**ked. Cause you put art up on AD to get comments, good and bad so you can get better in what you do. And be for any one attacks me that is a common know fact.

I think disabling comments has it's place
For instance, if every time you make a stamp, there's a large argument over it and your sick to death of seeing people fighting over some nonsensical bull crap then yes, I think disabling the comments has merit.

Why add fuel to a fire when a bomb is sitting nearby?
There's enough fighting in the world without petty internet arguments

I know just what you mean and I respect your opinion 100 percent.

Last night I issued a stamp request from somebody who said they wanted me to do a stamp saying "Porn is not art." While some people agreed with my argument however at least two or three others didn't. One of them even went on and on (I think they were looking for a fight), so all I did was to remain calm and not strike back. They really came off as quite a haughty person who couldn't get off their high horse.

Nevertheless I said to all those people who had differing opinions to mine, "Each is to their own I guess."

I knew I was going to have some kind of backlash in regards to the topic of the stamp. But I didn't prevent anyone from commenting on it by disabling the comments.

Yeah. I'm a firm believer of the "to each their own" concept. I have been for a very long time. Which is why, even though I, like anyone, get into arguments now and then, I can handle it most of the time when people disagree with me.

I agree with your stamp.
If you want to give your opinion, why don't you let others give theirs?
And even if a flame war starts, what's the worse that can happen? Writing with the caps lock on?

"Oh god they used caps lock! This calls for immediate death!"

Yeah...I don't want to sound mean, but to be honest I was tempted to put "pathetic" instead of "childish and cowardly." Because honestly, if you are so afraid of people getting butthurt at you that you feel the need to prevent comments, you shouldn't even make the stamp.
