Description
I just wanted to draw a mermaid/selkie and I had the idea of her being "freefalling" or midair in water. ;> It was challenging at first using this seemingly non-watery palette for an aquatic scene, but I think it really helped set up the autumny mood I wanted from this. I used overlay layers for the rays to blend this time, but I did stick to the palette. I'm not sure if the overlay rays strengthened or weakened the overall piece (hopefully the former). But still I'm quite happy with this! ^_^ But hmmm still I want to learn how to work with textures a bit, but didn't really work it into this one.
I really want to make more ambient pieces like I think this is, because those are one of my favorite type of drawings and I haven't done them much for some reason!

This was inspired by and for the September 2017 palette challenge from Colour-Schemes
The theme was (free) fall! fav.me/dbj1wek

I used some of the tips from fav.me/dblh50j to tackle drawing a wavey surface for the first time. (Geez this is my first time drawing ocean??? wow I need to draw more out of my comfort zone and more often!!! quest to improve)
