Description

Here it is! Finally, I've finished Ninjatoes's Kingdom Hearts Cloud! I must tell ya, hands were more challenging than the hair!
I've also edge-coloured every single piece of this guy, so the white lines of the paper are now hidden.
Now I can finally get my revenge on Cloud, since he whipped my butt more than once in the KH Arena! I can menace him with my cutter every time I want!
If you want to give this model a try, go to
[link]
and, either under Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts, you'll find the templates for Cloud!
But beware, this guy isn't simple, especially the hands and hair, and connecting the hair to the head.

wonder how tall it is? I have a Sephiroth model that i haven't started on yet and I was hoping to find a somewhat matching Cloud figure too. Sephiroth is about 18"

Good job btw

I can tell you it's about 29 cm tall. You'll have to do the conversion, sorry! I'm not that acquainted with imperial measuring!

Thanks, btw!

I may have asked this question in a different picture of one of your models, but how do you get it so clean? There are glue "stains" on my Cloud. Like glue just gets everywhere and dries and kind of looks unappealing . Just curious what you do to avoid this cause your crafts look so clean.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lyrin-83 In reply to Lord-Data [2010-03-22 10:09:20 +0000 UTC]

I don't think you asked it before!
Ah, glue stains... My first models are stained too. But as I went on building I just became more careful. Each and every time I feel that I have some glue on my fingers, I rub it away from them. I don't even notice doing it now! You just have to turn this habit into something automatic.
And if some glue accidentally spills on your model, quickly remove it with your finger: chances are that if you're quick enough, the glue stain won't show.
Mind that i use vynil glue, dunno exactly how other glues behave!
Oh, another trick that I heard of (but never tried it myself) is to use a rubber to rub away dried up glue stains on your model. But some trace of it will always remain, plus you have to be really careful, bec the rubber inevitably will rub away some colour from the craft.

Hope it'll help!

Thank you so much! That helps a lot actually. I'll have to try the eraser thing. What brand is your vinyl glue? I have been using Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue and it is great in terms of the time it takes to get things to hold together to dry best but even if I wipe away the excess with my finger there is still some left...I started using a toothpick to like scrape the excess away and it works a little better but there is still some left (at least not as prominent though heh). Anyways thanks again, I'll try the eraser and see what happens.

haha ik it is! i suck at dealing with paper tho. it always rips when i try to make anything other than a paper airplane -__- i just have bad luck like that lol. i think ill stick to drawing for now hahaha. but keep making cool stuff out of paper!

Lyrin-83 In reply to hitsugayaluver123 [2009-12-21 10:23:00 +0000 UTC]

I will! Thanks!
But if you want to try papercraft and need advice, just ask! To prevent paper from ripping, we usually use heavier paper: normal printer paper is 80gsm, while "papercraft paper" is usually between 120-160gsm. It won't rip, that's for sure!

PS: your avatar is cute!

This is pretty much a perfect build...I'm in the middle of building my own and I was wondering-What's the best method for attaching the fingers? Also, any other helpful tips would be appreciated...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lyrin-83 In reply to TouchFuzzyGetDizzy [2009-05-27 22:48:10 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
Good luck with your model, then! Do you need tips to attach fingers to the hand, or to close the finger cylinders?
Well, if it's the 1st case, just use a generous amount of glue on the palm tabs, and reach from inside the palm with a toothpick to apply pressure on them. They will stick to the finger eventually. If it's the second case, just preshape the fingers, like Ninjatoes explains in his instructions, and then glue the tab and hold it in place with tweezers. You'll see, the hair will seem a breeze afther the hands! (looking at the bright side of things! XD )
If you need some more help, feel free to ask!

Lyrin-83 In reply to Chartodileon [2009-04-22 18:51:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh, a sexy build? Thank you, this is the best compliment so far! XD

Edge colouring: you either pick a marker or a coloured pencil that matches the colour area, and pass it on the edge of the cut out piece. You then colour the part of the tab which is near to the coloured area. And the job is done! Yay! It takes a bit to do this for every single piece, though. (there's also a video of how to do it on the Ninjatoes' blog)
If the model you're building is a pepakura one, you can skip the tab colouring by setting pep to make the"overflow paint". Pretty nifty!
