Description These relax bear (Rilakkuma) are so cute I simply had to build one of them! I choose "Rainy Days" 'cause it fits well with the weather here... And as I'm out of cardstock and trying to find it in a store, I searched my room to find anything good. I found an album from my 13-years-old school days and used the last one white sheet that remained! Now I have his chick friend to make, but the cardstock that's left is perhaps too light... ;__;

Btw, you can find relax bear "rainy days" here [link] : it's the last post on that page. Unfortunately the website's in japanese, so it's a bit difficult to browse. I suggest to search for "relax bear" on [link] and choose from the various templates the ones you like best!

awww... it's so cute!!! I'm trying to make one myself, and im having trouble making the ear... like, it keeps falling apart. I've tried using double-stick tape, a glue stick and liquid glue, but none of them seem to work. What did you use? and do you have any suggestions for me?

Erm, sorry for the LATE reply!!!

In case you still need help, I use vinyl glue for my models. And maybe it would be of help to use tweezers to keep the glued pieces together while they dry, when the're as small as those ears!

You made it! Oh, it's so cute!

About the cardstock, light cardstock would be absolutely fine. The chick is really small. I actually used heavyweight paper (120 gsm) instead of cardstock for my Halloween set and it's quite sturdy!

He really is! I love his boots, though they had been hellish to build!!!
And I'd like to build the chick, but I can't quite figure out how to fold the wings and the beak... I've looked at yours, but the halloween suit doesn't have wings! ;__;
Up until now I've used heavyweight paper too, but since when I used 220gsm cardstock (found in my room by chance) the old one seems so light to me... By the way, now I have to order new cardstock, and I was thinking about choosing 200gsm... What do you think? Do you think it's too much?

No, my Halloween chick has no wings. The beak was a bit tricky since it's so tiny. The strip that goes between both sides of the beaks are longer that you need, just trim them off. And there are no tabs to attach them, it seems to held up well with just glue.

I used to use 160gsm all the time and 200gsm for the bigger ones, but now I use 120gsm a lot. It's really holds up well. And, less white lines, too.

So you were able to glue them without tabs?! I've made them for everything: ears, tail and paws... I've tried to glue the mouth without tabs, but I failed miserably, so I've made sort of an internal structure to attach mouth and head. But maybe it's also because of the glue I use (vynil glue).

I see why you had to make tabs for the legs and arms. It's because of the way they're positioned and the way the template is cut. The ones I made just had straight legs and the template had a part where you can just glue the arms and legs straight to the body.

For the mouth though, glue worked just fine for me. I use a PVA craft glue that's easily found in my area here in the States. It's called Aleene's Original Tacky glue. It's white but it dries clear.
