Love this, a great image.
Not in anyway flawed by the usual HDR faults. No serious noise in the sky, no halo around the building (I always struggle with that), beautiful dramatic lighting. Personally, I would have cloned out the bin as it doesn't fit with the image style and tone, and I would have increased the contrast in some of the mid tones, but really just a personal thing. I also like what you have done with the border, simple but effective.
Difficult to criticise, good job.

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback!
The waste-bin is something I completely overlooked when processing this one, I have to admit - I seldomly clone out parts of the image unless they are really annoying me (in which case, most of the time, the composition was broken to begin with).
As for the noise: my source images did have a serious amount of noise in it, but in my experience this is best dealt with before processing it in photomatix, etc. The noisereduction of photomatix or even lightroom itself is never going to be as good as a plugin that specializes on that, of course, so doing that seperately does pay off in my experience...
Thanks again for the feedback!

Wow! I've been in Cardiff several times, and fell in love with this city, but I have no idea where this is! One more thing to add to the list whenever I get back (hopefully this summer).
But I really love this view. It's like it captured what there really is behind that building and, well, the place in general!

Apparently it was a muli-pourpas building and the one wingwas used for Anglican services while the other was used by Non-Conformists apparently according to this site here

Hej, thanks a lot for the comment! I have to admit, I stumbled upon this cemetery purely by chance, but the second I stepped into it, the place had me... Of course, the chapel is otherworldly by itself, but the old parts, graves overgrown by moss, etc... simply amazing.
I didn't know it was so rare, but I've seen quite a lot of churches in my life and (even though I'm not an expert on church architecture) I'd have remembered if I had seen something like this before...
A night HDR... sounds like a great idea...! Be sure to let me know when you've done one, I'm curious to see how you perceive the place...!
thanks again for the comment, i do appreciate people who take the time to look at a piece and give sound commentary!

Gorgeous shot.
I live in Cardiff myself and this picture really demonstrates that you don't have to live in the most strikingly beautiful places (like Austria) to get fantastic shots.

oh no, it really just is a normal cementary, it's got normal opening times and such... it's a really beautiful place, too, you'll love it!

yes, it is... it's actually quite easy, so if you'd like to try it i'd recommend this tutorial: Trey Ratcliff Stuck in Customs. It's simple to understand yet explains the main ideas quite well, I'd say...
And... thanks for the kind words, of course!

you might be right, it's almost overdoing it... but then again, that's the age-old discussion when it comes to borders, isn't it? in this case, i was quite happy with it, as it helps obscure the sign that's sort of cut-off to the left...
