I definitely agree with you on the design, it is kinda all over the place. I wasn't really thinking to much about it, and it ended up being weird (the color schemes not helping much either).

I have been messing around with my style/exaggeration of anatomy lately. Now that you mention it though, her head is probably wider than her waist too hahahahahaha. That's something I'll have to keep an eye on as I continue to mess around.

I am not sure I agree with you about my older art. If anything, I think a lot of it is too simple. It felt almost like a laziness with some of my older stuff, like I didn't take the time to draw everything out.

Which stuff specifically do you think is better? Any time frame from like ___ to ___?

I think this maybe not so much. [link] It might just be me but it seems very jumbled and cluttery and there are too many overlapping, crossing spikes and jutting shapes in tiny places.

I think this is great. man i love this design. hahah. awesome. [link] yeah though, there's a lot of detail, but it's all organized under a hierarchy of components. All the smaller shapes are defined by the bigger ones, so it becomes stable and definite-feeling.


[link] I think this still is very good! but the fourth and second characters from the right are kinda showing some of that like, encroaching, jutting detail that blurs the silhouette more.



Also maybe it's not that there's too much detail, maybe it's just where you put it. I assume you are 100% familiar with the concept of negative space so I will just say to remember and make sure you leave the viewers' eyes a place in your design where they can rest.


Anyway I hope this was helpful, and also I hope I'm right >_> I would hate to say all this stuff and have it just make everything worse. I think I'm right! But you never know.

I think I get what you're saying, it's not so much the detail, but the overall flow of the picture/design. I can agree with that, this picture and the ones you linked don't "flow" as well as the others, they're kinda busy. I will keep this in more in mind in my work. Thanks.

no problem and like man: i hope you understand how much i freaking love your work, as a rule. So much of your stuff is so fresh and great and interesting looking! I mean you aren't even on my deviantwatch list but it doesn't matter because i inevitably always come back looking to see what else you've made.

if you don't mind I would like to chime in on this. the one thing I would like to stress is I have always admired how you tackled detail. I don't think you should trim down. you have always had a knack of somehow managing to make your characters great in detail, yet keeping the detail itself is simple.

Does that make sense?

wile some artists will have gears and vents spread all over a design in fine detail. you represent it with 1 well placed giant gear and a couple well placed exaggerated vents. Your eye for exaggerated detail (in a much awesomely graffiti style influence)is what made me follow you for a while (in a non creepy stalker sense I assure you.)strive for greatness but never lose yourself man.

Anyways this is all of course my opinion. and also in my opinion where as any artist can get better, I feel you have achieved a level where you can pretty much do what you want and get away with it. you've learned the rules enough to where you can break it and manage a style where if I saw it on the streets I could probably guess it was you.

Thanks for the feedback. Though I don't think I'm at that stage yet, probably far from it. There is a lot of improving I need to do on my art.
