Description Here's the first out of two photos of my "flame Sword".

It was the first piece of art that I designed for A-level last year, and I thought I'd display it here for you all to take a look.

The blade was carved from wood, and the hilt was modeled into shape with clay. The handle itself was make from a cast of one of my ornimental katana handles. Then I added on some flame like designs around the handle and hand guard. I finished the hilt off with red oxide. Hope you all likey!

two pieces of the handle were delightfully shattered off, thanks to some very troublesome school kids a few years under mine. ¬¬; some blu take held them in place during the photo if you can notice. heh.

And by the way, if I've created a sword out of clay and wood... Does this make me a backsmith? *ponders on that*...

Not necessarily, I had to make it for My A-level art. So it's not like I had a choice in the matter anyways, lol.

Flame sword made of clay and wood-- clay that grows hard in fire's heat, and wood that burns up at fire's touch. There's a metaphor in here somewhere, but for now it's just an awesome art project.

(P.S.- I don't think you're a blacksmith. I think the term you're looking for is "craftsman." )

hhmm a blacksmith is named after the "black metal" (what the metal looks like after it has been shaped) so no you are not a blacksmith, you are now a woodsmith! nice work on the blade. if you don't mind me saying that the handle doesn't exactly look comfortable to use, but hey who cares? it looks cool!

XD I doubt it'd serve anyone very well in actual combat.... >>; unless your "foes" would just start running away from the sight of the blade..

yeah, let's go with that!

Thank for the comment! ^^
