I appreciate you asking me this and I'll try to give the best answer:
I really depends on you, you are the one creating the content. Anyone can make commissions, it just depends on the creator themselves such as the time used to create them and how much do you value them.
We all start from the bottom, little by little to be comfortable and confident. If you decide on moving forward to this, you put your prices of what you think yours drawings are worth. Look around others as well to get ideas of what you think is right for yourself.
I had no knowledge before but slowly getting custom to make things I'm not familiar with.
(Remember, you might even draw characters you may not like, but if it pays, I'm not complaining)
