This was made to answer an "Ask" on Tumblr.Curtis is like this in real life. He likes hugs a lot. Even of other people don't.
Blah blah blah copyright. You people don't care. You're just going to trace over this with your stupid OC and say you made it and post it to another website and your forty something friends all praise you for such good artwork while I get ten favorites at most and sit on a pile of four hundred dollars of merchandise that I made crying because I can't sell anything. I'm going to go at macaroni.

Yeeheehee. Also, just so you know, the first book was drawn in 2010. THE ART IN IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE MY CURRENT STYLE. Also, I didn't know where elbows go. The style in that one was when I was first starting out and it reflects the influence of Jhonen Vasquez's work on my style a lot more than my my current style. Everyone's got stick limbs....

Wait, why? I was just saying that the art in the first book is not the best. (Then again, art's always changing and I'm gonna look at the art I posted today in about a month and have something to complain about.) Art always gets better and changes. Book 2 looks a lot more like my current style, but it's not exact. It's a weird fusion of the styles of the first and third book. Like a transition But that's just how art is. If you look at JtHM, the art in the first book looks nothing like the art in the last book, but you can see they came from the same place. It's the same all over.

Eh, just finding out that people keep tracing my stuff or recoloring it and posting it as their own. That mixed with the fact that all my bank accounts TOGETHER are about $200 because conventions cost a lot of money to go to is making me sad because I usually don't make that much at conventions. No one wants to buy anything. You want to know how many comic books I sold at my last con? TWO. I SOLD TWO OUT OF A HUNDRED BOOKS. I also only sold one T-shirt out of forty, five buttons out of fifty, and most of the stuffed animals I made when they're my second cheapest product. No one wanted to buy anything. NOT EVEN THE GIRL IN THE CREATURE FEATURE SHIRT. She blatantly refused to buy something. Then another woman was asking for me to discount products because she "didn't have the money" for a six dollar plush. You know who doesn't have money? ME. I have to pay a phone bill and buy medicine for my rabbit and I just don't have the cash anymore. I really hope I make money at these cons... The art theft factors into that because people are spreading and enjoying my art but not giving me credit, or in extension to that sales which I really need if I want to keep this job up. Maybe my family was right and I should have just taken a job as a court translator....

All of that is just ridiculous. You have every reason to be pissed off about that. I'd be super pissed at the girl in the Creature Feature shirt. I mean really, do they not understand how difficult it is? I know for a fact your prices are not that high. there's no reason she couldn't have bought something. really, anything. I know every dollar counts. That's why I buy music from lesser known artists, people on youtube, just trying to be famous that way.
But....if it makes you feel any better, could you message me your site again so I can buy the 3rd CF comic?

This is probably not very good advice but it's the only advice I can give: They liked your art enough to steal it and claim it as their own. Put empathizes on "They liked your art" and report and/or message every one you catch stealing it.
And I don't know what a court translator is but I think you should shut that idea out and keep trying. You're really great from what I know and speaking as an aspiring writer, the worst advice any one can give you is "That won't make you money so you should do something else." DO NOT listen to any advice along the lines of that. No one starts out well at first. If you need to then find a part time job to put money in your pocket, there's no shame in that, but please do not stop trying.
If I ever get the chance to go to a con you're at I'm buying extra coppies of your books.
