I think this may be misleading, because I came up with most of the information after the fact, sort of as conceptual justifications for what I had already drawn. Thanks, though!

This is a beautiful piece of work and I love the extra detail you added. I really like his heavy jaw and mellow-looking eye. Lovely job!

All the description adds a lot to the drawing and makes us get really close and aquainted with the dragolope (beautiful work and creature btw), but i'd really like to see it open jaws, so i can really get where until they open

How did the ungulate hooves evolve back into normal feet with fingers and toes, evolution generally doesn't go backwards. Unless it split off from the ungulate family tree before the hooves were fully developed. If you look at early whale ancestors that are suppose to be ungulates, they don't have hooves. Also, is the one horn actually two horns twisted together, or did the other one just become vestigial and disappear completely. Sorry to be so nerdy, it's all because it's a really an impressive piece.

To answer your questions, I'll say that it diverged from the main ungulate line, rather than descending from it, and that one of the horns became vestigial. To be honest, this started as a random doodle before becoming a more involved work, so there was not a great amount of thought put into it. I just made up all that stuff afterwards.

I love this, both the drawing the the descriptions are brilliant. I especially love the part about the angry birds and getting eyes pecked out. >:3
