I wanted to draw leather again, I'm not sure if it worked. It looks too fluffy.- Pencils
- Grey pastel
He's half naked because I wanted to try and draw skin and a torso. Also scars, I've never tried realistic ones before, I'm not sure if that worked either. Also I added smoke... Basically I took all the hardest things I could think of apparently.
I used pencils and tried something new by also using a grey pastel and mixing it, I like the smudge look it gives and the colors. It's hard to belief it's just grey and not purple too.
I'm really not sure about this one, I don't know why. Maybe the lack of eyes... I love drawing eyes but it did not work for his expression.
I did use some references by pictures of ahum, male models, I cheated a little.

I also played around in picasa (I'm such a noob I still can't work with photoshop) and there is this one overexposed black and white effect, I liked it on this drawing because it looks vintage (quite fitting for a friggin 5000 year old don't ya think) and more jean-like, so I'll put it here too:

And I first wanted to call this 'Too sexy for my shirt' but that's a bit... yeah. *facepalms*
I had to finish it in one day because I haven't drawn in so long and I usually give up before there is anything on paper, so I strained myself a little towards the end and it's 3:30 am now.
For the first time ever I think I forgot the mandatory Ankh necklace so I just lazily made it look like he's wearing it around his belt.
My black cat gave me company by scaring the living hell out of me by running in the dark in the next room. I thought it were the shadow people stalking me. Yes I still believe in monsters.
That's about it.

Psh, who wears a jacket with no shirt on? Men. HAHA. I think this is awesome Feline, it's cool that you were trying to challenge yourself with some hard things (smoke, muscles, scars, leather) I like the shut eyes personally, it adds a nice touch to it because closed eyes can express just as much as open ones can. I like the subtle details in the jacket, the slightly torn edges, the ribbed sleeves, the hatched shoulder seams. The way the jacket drapes up as you can tell they are rolled up sleeves, just awesome. I think the reason it doesn't look quite exactly like leather is the fact that leather is smooth, VERY smooth. So smooth white light opaquely reflects off of it. The wrinkles in leather should be like casually rolling hills not harsh steep peaks. Leather is such a strange fabric, even to sew with. It's not very flexible and it bends strangely. xD And using a model for things isn't cheating. Cheating would be taking the picture of the model and saying "I drew this" Lol So therefore, you didn't cheat with your drawing. Famous paintings all over use models, think of the Mona Lisa. That used a model. I like the muscles, the ones you created are very appealing since it looks more 'real' I guess. One thing with the smoke, the cigarette end should have a bit of smoke on it too as well as a burnt edge. That's just one thing I noticed with that.
Also, it wasn't the shadow people in your room stalking you, it was my shadow. It got away from me, I need to reattach it with some soap. :T If you see it, be sure to capture it and I'll be right over to soap it back on. Lol
