Description This custom leather holster was made for my modded Nerf Maverick ([link] ).

A wet fitting was done for the leather to fit the characteristic drum magazine shape.

Everything was cut, fitted, coloured and sewn by hand, and the pattern was developed and modified during the entire process.

The holster is fitted in a belt and fastened around the right thigh with the attached strap.

The Maverick has a very snug fit and won't drop out unless one does some very acrobatic jumps and moves. The primary function of the holding strap is thus to keep the blaster aligned with the wearers leg at all times.

I am very pleased with the result and look forward to using it

I figure I am late to the party... but I just want to say that this has to be the best one of these that I have seen. I was wondering if you have a set of patterns or could you come up with a set of patterns for something similar? I am actually needing one for each leg so I would need to be able to reverse the pattern as well.

If you could contact me at chris@2tonpainting.com to let me know that would be great.

Thx for the nice words.

I cannot help you with a pattern. I pretty much cut a rough piece for the main part, soaked it to make it fit snugly, and then trimmed away the excess material on the fly.
Thus, no pattern exists.

From the pictures you should be able to get the general idea, if you want to make a similar one.

I have to say....this is one of the best looking maverick holsters I've seen. I'm making my first modded Nerf Maverick for my steampunk cosplay/Halloween outfit for next year, and would love to make a holster like this. Is this something I can look up online to make or does it require some kind of training? Or would I be better off buying one xD

Thx alot

It took some leatherworking experience, as well as a bit of luck, to get the snug fit with the maverick.

If you have some basic experience and a lot of time, you could probably use online guides for guidelines and make your own customizations.
With the time it took to make this, it would be way to expensive for anyone to actually buy.
Maybe a simplified version. But then again, I do not have a template for it so any additional ones would be from scratch as well.

Good luck with your crafting, and remember to show your result on Deviantart

wow, this looks amazing ! i think i'm reading this correctly, but you didn't make a pattern for this, you just started cutting away at leather and made it along the way ? thats amazing !

i'd love to replicate this, i'm looking for a holster for this maverick nerf gun, and I have the leather, I just don't have a (good) pattern.

anyways, amazing job !

Glad you like it.

I am actually kinda sad that I have no real pattern for it, in order to make more.
I created a rough oversized pattern and fitted that on the gun before trimming everything to whatever shape I found fitting.
This was the only way to make sure it was a snug fit.

Would be almost as troublesome to make another, as it was to make the first one.

Nice that you noticed the stitchings. Was tempted to go for stitchings with twice the length, but decided to do the smaller ones for aesthetic reasons
