If you watch the zoro and kaku fight (or if you true manga fan, and only read the manga), right after zoro defeats kaku with the move "asura", he goes on to relay the message from paulie) Hope that helps XD

Oh Yeah! My brother told me about that! He and the rest of the CP9 nines spies were trying to steal blueprints and Iceberg on a very powerful weapon, but it turns out Franky had them. And when Iceberg found out about that, he sacked Kaku, Lucci, and Kalifa. (Sacked is an old term meaning fired)
