I'm a HUGE Mass Effect fan! I play the game like a madwoman and I'm obsessed with reading almost any and all fanfiction of it! So one day I decided to get off my lazy behind and draw some fanart of my FemShep. This is the result! (Oh, and sorry for the crappy picture quality, I don't have a scanner so I just take pictures from my phone *embarassed laughter*)
The idea behind this one was inspired by the infamous love triangle scene in Mass Effect. The fact that I couldn't alter my FemShep's sexual orientation in the first place was upsetting to me. And I hated the fact that in order to keep Kaidan from falling in love with her was to go Renegade on him or risk the creepy flirting action that the other two dialogue options gave me. *shivers*
Don't get me wrong! Kaidan is my bro! I save him on Virmire because i find his biotics useful and he's like a brother to my FemShep ... and because Kaidan's "like a brother" to her, it just made it all the more awkward when the "choose one of us" scene came up.
Anywho, this is the result of all of that drama! Enjoy!!

I was like "Hmm.... I actually am more of a Turian kind of girl so... Yeah...." Five minutes later my character tries kissing him and then gets him in bed and I was legit like "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I should of went for Liara in the First Game... She was such a Sweet Little Muffin...

wow this is very good.Β I am surprised that you took it on your phone cause it does not look like it at all.Β Β I chose Liara the first playthrough but then I found out you could get with Garrus and......well...he is the sexiest turian alive! I never got with kaidan. I just think he is not cool at all and not good looking either. sorry kaidan.

*smiles* Thank you! Haha, yes it was taken from a phone, believe it or not! I had taken several dozen shots of this drawing before finally settling on the one I posted. My phone's camera is not very good at capturing lighting! *sighs*
Oh, I love Garrus too, he's so awesome! Though He's more like an older brother to my Shepard, lol!

What I always found funny about the "choose one of us" scene in ME1 was that, as a male Shepard, you had the (Paragon! o_o) option to propose a three-way...at which point Ashley becomes horribly insulted and storms off, and Liara is basically like "well hey, that's cool then".

Yeah, I've seen vids up on YouTube of that particular incident! It's all rather horrifyingly funny, and I find it giggle-worthy that Liara is fine with it either way, as long as she gets to be with Shepard. Lol!

XFD oh damn. This pic is so well done! I love it and your style but sadly I hate both Liara and Kaidan in equal measure so I'm conflicted on how you'll take my comment.

That's a relief. I didn't want us to start off on the wrong foot. But yeah, never cared for either of them but your style and mastery of ink and pencils makes it hard to ignore this image.
How can I not? What little I do are crappy doodles compared to this, and don't ask me to show you cus I don't have that kind of stuff. I'm more of a writer so I've got plenty of stuff to choose from regardless.

I agree I hated the fact he assumes femSHep is flirting into him because she's nice. I forget what option it is its not exactly reengage but there is a line of dialog that has shepard telling him she say Liara 1st.Β mostly I've very neutralΒ with himΒ nicely drawn.

Well, I am embarrassed to admit that coloring (and sometimes shading) are not my strongest points when it comes to art. Because of that fact, and becauseΒ this is one of my favorite pieces I've done, I was a bit hesitant to add color ... :/
I rarely color, but there are a few drawings I've done that are rare exceptions.

I also found it annoying that you automatically anded up in a relationship with him (or Ashley depending on what gender you use) if you just talked, because I know that's not how it actually works.
If it worked like that in real life I would most likely not be single.

Yes, the constant (non-intended) flirtatious banter was rather annoying ... and the fact that no matter what dialogue option you chose you'd still end up somehow coming onto a teammate ... *le sigh*

Oh, definitely! BioWare went through a lot of trouble with the little details in character creator, even making up three different story back rounds for Shepard, but couldn't go through the trouble of adding a screen that asked if your Shepard was straight/gay/bisexual? ... C'mon, Bioware!!

I would have just preferred more dialogue options. It would have been nice to be able to avoid getting into a romance with someone without having to be a complete jerk. Just being friendly or neutral with either Kaidan or Liara seems to be enough to get a romance going.
