Description

"I wonder how that brown auri is doing?" The blue auri asked her little white companion. Her crystal skink, Novo, gave no response as it slept around her neck, leaving Opal to talk to herself. It's been a few weeks since she found the little brown auri in the alleyway, but unfortunately she's only seen them once after that, and that was because some jerk auri named Enza attacked them. When she came back after teaching him a lesson (and taking a shower), the little brown auri was gone. She made sure to keep an eye out for the brown auri after that. "I hope they're okay."

The sun decided to show it's bright face to Bellavette today as if to apologize for the cold winter. The wind was stronger though, so the warmth was dulled by the cold and most of the aurilli in town were bundled up in thick, warm clothing. Opal was surprised that Novo was still asleep and not shivering from the cold like she was, but shrugged it off and continued onward to her destination, the library. She was growing curious with magic and wanted to learn more about it, specifically Earth and Light magic and not knowing anywhere else to go, she decided to go to there. She might even find aurilli who know the magic and learn from them! Her walk to the library was filled with the thought of learning magic, so she almost missed the commotion coming from a familiar alley.

"Look at the little freakshow! It looks so ugly and worthless."

The female voice caught her and now awake Novo off guard and it took a while before they realized the source came from the approaching alleyway and decided to investigate. They were heading in that direction anyways.

When she peaked through, she saw three auri. The voice came from a white auri with grey mismatched wings, a black and purple auri was with her, and the two were circling a familiar figure who seemed frightened by them. It was the brown auri.

"Look at this thing! Doesn't it look ugly, Azazel?" She asked the other. He said nothing and only wore an angry expression upon his face. Disappointed by his lack of an answer, she turned back to the smaller to continue her teasing. "It looks like it came from the dump. Would explain the smell. I wondered how many auri died just by going near it!" The brown auri looked distraught and was shaking violently. They was on the verge of tears."It could be alot worse though. I wonder if I could fix that." She raised her paw as if to strike the auri and it flinched back in fear.

She has taken it too far.

Opal finally got her leg to work so she can spring onto a wall and pushing off of it to stand above the brown auri to shield it from them. This sudden action surprised the three and the two bullies stepped instinctively to avoid getting bumped into. After a few seconds of silence, the white auri spoke once more.

"What's this? An 'brave' auri wants to play hero and protect another? How original." the white one mocked. Opal ignored the insult and talked back.

"My name is Opal." she said while snarling but still trying to be polite, "And may I ask who you might be?"

"Ooh! How fancy. I am the one they call Aithne, and he's Azazel." She answered, gesturing to the still angered black auri.

"Charmed. Well then, Aithne and Azazel, may I ask what you two are doing here?" she asked.

"That doesn't concern you, Mutt. How about you do everyone a favor and mind your own business. Wouldn't want your precious pelt to be ruined now, would we?" Aithne said with a disturbing grin on her face. Opal felt the brown auri between her legs shake more as the fear within it slowly grew.

"First of all, don't call me 'Mutt'. Second, is certainly my business if you and your buddy over there are messing with my friend and threatening them." Opal quipped as Novo hissed at her. The brown auri was surprised by her calling them a 'friend', but was quickly remembered the danger when Aithne started laughing.

"Friend? You really have lost your marbles! Who would want to be friends with something as ugly and disturbing at that!" She said while still laughing hysterically and Azazel let out a slight chuckle. Opal desperately fought the urge to scratch her clean across the face. She just wanted her to shut up so the brown auri, Novo, and herself can leave.

"Alright sweetheart, here's what your going to do. You are going to move aside so we can leave peacefully and without conflict and neither of you will follow nor attack us. Do I make myself clear, or do I have to say it again." snapped Opal which in turn, agitated Aithne and Azazel.

"What did you say to me? Did you just threaten me?" Aithne growled "Oh, your gonna get it now!" Realizing that there might be a fight, she quickly scanned her surroundings and possible opponents.

Aithne didn't look too dangerous. The wings might be a problem and the smoke pools could mean she knows fire magic, but that's about it besides her teeth. Azazel on the other hand looked like a real threat. He not only has teeth, but claws and a scorpion-like stinger on his tail. He could hurt not only herself, but Novo and the brown auri as well.

The alley looked small, but big enough to dodge anything if she needed to. The dumpsters could also be and advantage, but by the size of Aithne's wings, she might be able to fly. She just needed enough time to allow the others to escape and hopefully get some help to deal with these two.

Azazel was looked ready for a head on attack while Aithne not so much, but whatever the outcome, she was ready to defend her friend.

And here we have a blue nugget defending and her animatronic young from the power-couple predators with her crystal noodle.

Kinda a sequel to Beautiful , so read that for explanations on some things.
