Description Just felt like drawing some international comic strip characters this time.

Here we have Mafalda, a comic strip character from Argentina. The comic strip was created by Joaquín Salvador Lavado Tejón, or better known under his pen name "Quino".

Mafalda is a six-year-old girl who reflects the Argentinian middle class and progressive youth. She has an innocent but serious attitude toward problems that seem to concern things about humanity and world peace. The comic strip launched on September 29, 1964 and ended on June 25, 1973. However, after 1973 Quino still did draw Mafalda a few times, mostly to promote human rights. In 1976, Quino reproduced Mafalda for the UNICEF illustrating the Convention on the Rights of The Child.

Mafalda was very popular in Latin America, Europe, Quebec, and Asia. Its popularity led to books and two animated cartoon series. Mafalda has been praised as masterful satire. Mafalda has been translated into approximately 20 different languages including: Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew, Armenian, and Guarani. There is even a Spanish Braille version. In the USA, the only published work of Quino's was the book The World of Quino in 1986. Beginning in 2004, Quino's publisher in Argentina, Ediciones de La Flor, started publishing English-language collections of Mafalda strips under the series title Mafalda & Friends.

As For The Art Itself:
I looked up some random reference images for Mafalda. I've noticed her eyes usually have sclera (the white part of the eyes) and sometimes they don't. I ended up drawing her with the whites on her eyes. I was planning to have some random characters from the comic appear on the little stamps behind her. However, I didn't feel like drawing them all. So I ended up looking for some random Argentinian symbols to add to the stamps. The flag behind Mafalda's head is the Argentinian flag. It took a few tries to draw the face on sun correctly.
