This picture makes me feel in a good mood. With the soft curls of her hair, and her eyes, oh my goodness, I love her eyes. They're so pretty!! I like how her nose is , like, smooth, and goes along with her personality, and the background colors really help her blend in, which makes it a lot cooler. The crown is a nice touch, you know. It kinda stands out and catches the eyes. And how in the bottom corners, where she kinda fades into the blackness- awesome. I could never do something this cool. Way beyond my ability. This is honestly my favorite piece of work I have seen done for Princess Luna. The eyes are beautiful along with her hair and the nose isn't to bulky or to small. The highlights and glare/shine on the hair and in the eye makes it look all the better. Unlike most pieces of Luna art I see, the colors are dull and boring because she is princess of the night, but I love that her eyes pop and the crown stands out dramatically compared to other pieces. The shading is also notable because it shows the dark and dullness of the princess and her title in reality, but it makes the picture interesting to look at. I can definately say I am going to share this to my facebook page so people can come watch you on Deviantart. Truly amazing, I can't even describe in words how cute and beautiful the concept and design of the picture is...

I really enjoy your color choice for Luna, and that she looks truly pleased- though what her pleasure is- is hinted at by the crown. Its a bit of a mystery. Did she take it? Was it given? It is very thought provoking, and that is wonderful.
You light-source and direction are good, and the hair is both indicative of filly-Luna and the nimbus of adult-Luna, which is something that is rarely executed well, and was done so here.
The colors between the background and foreground are a little too close to make easy distinction, particularly around the ear. I would suggest adding a little more purple or cyan like her eye, just a smidge, to help differentiate the colors in addition to the texture.

i just tried another style and it was my intention to blend the colors of the fore and background this way. But i can understand that it is maybe a little too much

It does definitely draw the eye more to texture differences this way, and that's always a feat that is to be admired. Texture, especially cloud texture, can be particularly difficult.
If you don't mind my asking, what inspired the semi monochrome approach?

to be honest, i don't think that much about my stuff, i just grab my pen and start drawing
i don't have any good knowledge of positioning, composition etc. i just draw what i have in mind and sometimes it turns out like this.

at first, I didn't reconize that this was Luna, until I took a closer look, and read the title.

Β Β Is this critique even fair? If you don't know how to write them,then don't. I love receiving comments from others,even if they're kinda short. So why shouldn't the artist too?Β
Β Β (Comments for the artist)You did pretty well,but the colors are too solid. The crown stands out the most because it's a different color of the background. The hair is nice,only it feels too long,because Luna's face is kinda..small.(I like the shininess tho) :3 Β It's a good start..I'll never do something as good as this.Just need a little recoloring,and it'll be amazing.

Even if you couldn't find anything wrong,brainstorm on how,maybe, the artist could improve. Otherwise a comment would be good.

While I do agree that the artist did a great job, I do not think that your critique was fair for the artist. Fawning should be left to Comments.

I honestly think that the value of character and background is too close.
I mean it's like the character kinda blended in together with the background and not popping out in some places.
And the other thing is, the hairs are kinda too far popped out from the background and it gives you the "balloon" feels instead of hair.
Only a little tippy-tip-top with the character colors or background colors it'll be great! I can already appreciate the beautiful colors.

Luna's hair is soo sleek!! And her eye...that color just pops out at you when you first look at it. And, for some reason, the clouds are one of my favorite parts of this piece. You would think that it would take the attention away from Luna, because they would blend, but it doesn't...I don't know, it just seems so beautiful to me.
