A snowy scene with my newest babes <3 I started working on this before I even created Heda
Anyway the last TWD training needed for my horses to be qualified to participate. I hope. Since Slavkos are not established enough to enter TWD, I had to come up with new OCs (ober and knab in my case) that are on “breeds allowed” list. And because this changed my plans A LOT, cos suddenly James lost two horses, I had to come up with a story of why. So here you go ~
A little less than 2 months before James was expected to pack all his things (and horses) and head to Hungary to participate in TWD, he had his mares vet checked and the results were both happy and saddening. They were both pregnant! Their summer off grazing in slovenian Alps was certainly fun for the mares. Happy for them both to be expecting, but feeling defeated by the universe he firstly buried the idea of attending TWD alltogether. Of course he had his trusty Kras, but he would never attend such an event with borrowed horses, just to participate. He was really looking forward to entering and has been preparing his horses for a whole year and now this. It was devastating.
In late October he flew his horses to Slovenia. OSR were expecting them, as he made an arrangement to accomodate the mares there until they foal. We figured he would just spend the winter in Slovenia, so Kras came aswell to keep him company and to explore the pretty nature together.
And then everything changed. He saw an absolutely adorable mare for sale and fell in love. After trying her out he made a decision to buy her. And now having 2 endurance horses, he started looking for the 3rd one, because the plan of entering TWD was back on! He traveled all the way to Denmark where he found his 3rd horse, a pretty little Knabstrupper mare. She was all and more he was searching for in a horse, and on his way back to Slovenia the trailer wasn’t empty.
The whole month of November was endurance inspired. He was spending every minute with his horses, getting to know the mares, and preparing them for TWD. When December was closing in he was sure they were ready. And so they began their journey towards Hungary, were in just a few days TWD will officially start.
