Description I rarely revisit older pieces, but I felt this one needed some Star Wars love.

Looks like they've done their construction in (yuck!) giant coprolites...!

If you forgive my ignorance, what sort of craft is that again? Had the toy as a child and knew it just as "rebel transport", but there has to be a more specific name.

At first glance it reminds me of the Munificent-class star frigates used by the InterGalactic Banking Clan and their separatist allies, however, I think this ship is actually of fan design.

Could be. Know it is the same family as the transports in Episode V, but not familiar with any of the model details. Not even certain about the scale: I always had the impression they were pure barges, perhaps twice the size of the Millennium Falcon, but the detailing here does look more appropriate for a frigate.

Getting a second/better look at this, I think you're right; this ship is closely related to the Rebel transports.  As for the model, the Rebel transport's official designation is GR-75 medium transport.  And, yeah, it's small.  Less than a hundred meters in length, if I'm not mistaken; so, just under three times the length of the Millennium Falcon.  Some of the structures in this image mess with scale perception making the ship look much bigger than it is; this is why my first though is 'frigate'.  Munificent-class star frigates are nearly ten times bigger than GR-75 medium transports, I think.

That sounds about right. From the formation flyby during the breakthrough from Hoth the ship appeared to be about twice as wide as an X-wing span, and the model I have has a 1:6 ratio.

Admittedly not my favourite toy as a child. The ship design was perhaps too unorthodox, and can sort of see why now. It is very greebly for a dedicated transport. Not as much as the Falcon herself, but then again she is a protagonist's ship - and none of her owners have exactly run her as a dedicated freighter either.
