i use mpe-65mm canon which goes to 5X..u can use bellows and exstetion tubes(kenko) to get 5-10X.if u have the money get the mpe-65mm by canon but its 800 pound,.

could you please explain how you go about getting your macro shots -- I have a Nikon D80 and no macro lens other than the macro feature on the 70 to 300mm, and that is not much.

I got great shots with my Raynox 250 filter attachment. I'm wondering if I can just get one of those for the Nikon -- or if I am supposed to get Kenko filters and an extension tube or something.

It's all a great mystery to me with this new DSLR.

Your shots are nothing short of phenomenal. They are bigger and more detailed than anyone else's macro shots. So, to me, you are the Master of Macro. By understanding how you are approaching it, I'm hoping I can begin to get my D80 set up to get shots that are more along the lines of what I got with my much cheaper Canon S3 IS and a $40 macro filter. They were pretty damn decent shots:

nowhere near as awesome as your shots, but for what I had, I was happy to get these. Now that I have a better camera, I'd like to learn what it takes you to get your awesome work. Step by step I can improve from where I am, though, truthfully, I don't think I could ever reach your level.

Thanks.well i use to have a nikon set up..reason i went over to canon was the mpe-65..What you need to do is get a sigma 105mm or nikon 10mm macro lens..Then you need a set of kenko tubes..Then this set up will give you 2:1 life size. Then if you want more mag it would be best to reverse a lens on to the macro lens...this set up would give u 5:1..u can also buy bellows set up but u can use ettl on the flash then..your best bet would be a macro lens and set of tubes.if u need any more help let me know..Your need a good flash to.Every image u see in my gallery is taken with the flash..If you control the light you control the shot.Your not relying on natural light so you can use any setting.i use f/11 iso 100 shutter speed 200 99% of the time cause i use a flash.check out a guy called dalantech he has some great info on macro,
