Think of it as a form of cosplay and go for it. Then create a brand new account, not linked in anyway, to or from this account, and post them there. That way, you don't have to worry about folks you know and who check out your gallery seeing them.

Post the pictures and see what kind of response you get. If you decide you're just not comfortable with the whole thing, then delete your gallery and ignore the account. Great Art is never accomplished without taking great risk. Either you reach a point where you just go for it, or you sit back and regret not doing it the rest of your life!

Take the time to read all of *lockstock 's journal. She has some very good thoughts and reflections on the subject.

Trust me! At my age I've known the regret of lost opportunities and dreams never followed. That's why I do my best to encourage you younger artists to go for it, push the envelope of your skills, and pursue your dreams.

If I'd had someone to encourage me when I was your age, I'd have pursued an entirely different career path. So I feel it's my duty to encourage you guys in your artwork and photography... to give you what I didn't have.

So get out there and shine!

I went 2 years to the local community college and went through their certificate programs for Graphic Design and for Photography. I loved doing both! With some encouragement, I'd have most likely gone into Photojournalism or plugged into the Art department of a newspaper or something along those lines.

Instead of pursueing my dreams, however, I ended up pursuing my parent's dreams for me and went to Bible college to become a minister. But I was never comfortable with being a minister, so I became a Teacher instead.

Of course, threaded through all of that was marriage, two daughters, a divorce, and rasing two daughters as a single-parent Dad. Both of them have now graduated college. One is married and has a 9-month-old daughter of her own.

So, now I find myself, at age 50, substitute teaching and trying to make a career of Fine Art at the same time! A bit late in life to be taking a risk and following a dream. But better than never following it all!
