Description This is a collab between myself and my friend ... She drew my DnD character Sade, and I colored it

The actual scene is based on something that happened in an actual session... we were attacked by basilisks... the kind that turn you to stone if you look in their eyes... and this was Sade's solution to it she made a flaming spheres that spun around her as a little firey shield, and kept her eyes closed she actually managed quite well in that

(for artistic license, here she has 2 flaming spheres... because it could happen and it looks cool )

I was planning on drawing this scene myself, but I didn't have the time to, and Yifat was just so awesome that she drew it for me and let me color ^^ (which is my fave part )

You found a really elegant and efficient way to handle that encounter. Fitting for a nice reminder

What is DnD exactly? Your character keeps appearing in your pictures, but is it a kind of roleplay? Written? Online or not?

And on the picture...
I really like how you coloured it (^-^). Viewing your latest deviations you're really improving!

it's roleplay yeah, we can play both online and offline, but we usually meet to do it it's like a looong story to explain what DnD actually IS but in short, it is a rule system, that revolves around playing your character and dice-rolling, to determine how well you actually succeed with any given action. it's super fun!

and thank you in regards to the picture. I really appreciate it.

This is really great, I like the strong lighting the fire creates. It definitely looks like a dramatic moment. The designs around the corners are really cool too~

Hehe, I played back around '00, just long enough to get my Paladin to Lvl20, then I played online (when they came out with the MMO video game) when it first came out and got a Mage to lvl7. Never played since, and never progressed into the "Epic" levels, skills, and adventures...

But yeah fun times, I probably still have my Paladin's Character Sheet around here somewhere... I always seem to stumble upon them when I least expect it, but can never find it when I need it, lol I should jsut keep it on my computer...

lol I started with a paladin too ! how cute I traded him off when he reached level 7 or 8 though... he took a leadership feat and his RP earned him the role of diplomat. combined, he ended up being assigned to a keep in a dwarf mining village, and had himself a number of followers he took care of and trained... but he really became a great leader, and I didn't think he would risk his life on pointless adventurers anymore. He was a very driven character, quite easy to play, but at some point I needed to admit that his adventuring days were over, and he'll settle down defending his land, his peers, his followers, being a model of good in his society... and such

See my Paladin HAD his days as a noble, parading around with the city-folk pomp and ego, but when a particularly nasty scheme took everything but his title, he swore to a church for a number of years. And now spends his time adventuring and using his knowledge to clear the land of evil... And meet new adventurers and lend his skill
(High in both Diplomany and Religon) I forgot his exact stats, but I remember vividly he carries a noble's outfit around just in case he finds himself having to attend a well-to do party
You guys play the 3.5 rules I'm guessing?

yep. My pally had a crazy backstory too, he was flesh-to-stoned by some usurpers in the previous kingdom he had vowed allegiance to, and a kind giant with a scroll stone-to-fleshed him 400 years later. He was very confused about it, because in the meantime the kingdom he once loved became an evil corrupt place, as did most of the world... for the vast majority of his campaign, he just traveled to a place a bard described as a small land, of kind people of true excellence I swear it must've been something like the way knights quested for Camelot in the legend I liked him a lot but he was really the kind who adventured with a goal - to find a new nation worth fighting for.

See my Pally's goal was to get away from the corrupt upper echelon of nobility. He was done with the underlying evil and the pompus attitudes that cost him a great deal. So now he uses that knowledge to take down the heirarchies. (smiting kobolds and Skeletons is a hobby, )

sounds cool I love hearing about pallies being played in different ways, they're like the most stereotyped class in the PHB everybody assumes they're very easy to play because their actions are so predictable. boo. but the moral side of it is pretty tricksy, IMO

Zmann966 In reply to madam-marla [2008-03-06 23:20:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, they're usually stereotyped as easy gameplay wise, and i can kinda see that, but that means you gotta throw in the RP twist to make it fun
