impressive.. if you really want lot's of variations of colors.. for me the best is faber castell.
or maybe corell also looks good..
but the tones of colors depends on how hard and light you shade.

Saying it's impressive is an overstatement *o*
I can't afford Faber Castell right now. Doesn't it only have 32 colours?
You can go lighter but now matter how hard you press, it'll only go bolder.

Are Fable Castell ones easy to layer?
I sometimes put it on a diagnal too, but only sometimes because I might colour outside the lines (like I already do)
I also sometimes use the white pencil crayon to blend so I have to press hard. The colours come out bolder anyway.

yes.. faber castell are easy to blend and layered.
as long as you know other techniques of using colorin pencils you'll be fine.
and please.. don't press hard on the paper.. it's almost like you're hurting it..
speakibg of papers.. i noticed that the paper you're using have some type of pores on it.. looks like a water coloring paper..
color pencils work best on smooth papers like bond papers or tracing papers.
maybe trying emperpep's tutorial would help [link]
i used his tutorial as a guide for me until i found mt own technique
hope this will help..
and also..
all it takes is practice.
it also seems you're talented on paintings.. so keep it up!

I used normal copy paper and put it on top of a sketch book cover.

What's the point in putting a smooth one under it?

Then there wouldn't be any point in putting a sketchbook underneath anyway. And what bump marks are you talking about?
I just found out I can't get them. The art store closest to me doesn't sell any Faber Castell products. I've done some research on them, and they don't seem right for me.
