You followed Watari through the several stations of security in the large building, chewing on your nails as always. L had called you, saying he wanted help on the Kira case. Sure, you were rather strange, but you were practically as smart as him. You could find the smallest of clues and fit many of them together. Like a puzzle, really. As Watari showed you the room, you gave the man a glance. Watari had practically raised you before sending you to Wammy’s House. You didn’t particularly like it there. You watched as he started to walk back down the hall before you banged on the door. You could hear the Task Force chattering inside, everything suddenly going quiet at your gesture. You heard the sound of bare feet padding against the floor. L. The door opened in front of you, the detective standing in the slouched-over way he always did.

“(Y/n). I’m guessing Watari showed you up?”

You gave a nod, still chewing on your nails. You respected L to an almost scary extent. You would die for him, and, when he gave an order, you followed without asking questions. He stepped back to let you in the room, everyone staring at you. You went over their faces, stopping as your (e/c) gaze fell onto brown orbs. Light Yagami. You had heard about him. You stared at him for a long moment before looking back at L, giving your trademark smirk. He placed a hand on your shoulder, looking at the rest of the task force.

“Everyone, this is (y/n). She is one of my successors. However, you will find her to be very strange. I will warn you now that, if provoked or threatened, she will tend to bite.”

Well, that took them off guard. Matsuda swallowed roughly, looking you up and down before stopping at your smirk.

“She bites..?”

L gave a small nod and you, almost proving your point, snapped at the air. Your teeth made a horrible click, Matsuda jumping a bit. You glanced back at L, smiling. He pat your head, going back to his chair and sitting in the way he always did. You stared at him before glancing at Light. He had perfect brown eyes. You shot him a toothy grin, almost losing it at how he almost cringed. You had your eyes on him. You would have him. No matter what.

You were playing with a set of dice and some puzzle pieces. The entire room was staring at you, watching as you would make a tower of dice before throwing puzzle pieces at it. You would smirk as it would fall, the gesture falling just as quickly as you would start to build the tower again. L, however, was used to this. You were about to throw one of the dice at Matsuda before you heard L snap his fingers at you. You glanced at him, quickly lowering your arm. Light noticed this. He noticed how you would listen to everything he said or did. That may come in handy. You looked up as a knock came to the door, Misa coming inside. Matsuda’s face lit up, yours falling. You hated Misa. She clung onto Light too much. She liked Light too much. You watched as she sat on the couch next to Light, grabbing his arm. She failed to notice how uncomfortable he was, but you didn’t. It made your hopes go up. But, you still weren’t the happiest person in the world. You slid all the dice off the table, growling a bit. You watched as Misa reached for a strawberry from the bowl on the table, getting an idea as she blabbered on. You waited for her to reach again. Her arm slid out of Light’s, her hand hovering over the bowl. And you snapped. Literally. Your teeth clamped onto her skin, a shrill scream coming from her bright red lips. You kept your grip on her. At least until L shouted at you.

“(Y/n)..!”

You suddenly let go of Misa, ignoring her cries as you turned to look at L. He gave you a disappointed look, and you winced a bit. You hated that look. Matsuda and Aizawa quickly took Misa to the bathroom to bandage her arm. L was honestly surprised. You never bit hard enough to draw blood. You never had to. You looked up at Light, his shocked and almost terrified face making you feel even worse. You started to pick up your dice, rolling them between your fingers. That didn’t really go as planned.

Misa hated you at this point, but you were fine with that. It was Light that you were worried about. He almost seemed to be afraid of you. Which was why you begged and pleaded for L to let him go with you to get him more sweets. The detective couldn’t say no to sugar, so he sent you out. Light practically walked on the other side of the street as you, but you were fine with that. You two came to the sweets shop, you getting a basket of candies and pastries and everything in between. Light was about to drag you out before you bought two cups of tea and plenty of sugar cubes, dragging him to a table. You sat with the basket to your side, your position much like L’s as you dropped the cubes in the tea. Light was about to question you before you shot him a smirk, talking quietly.

“I know…”

Your tone was almost sing-song, the college student giving you a confused look. You leaned over the table, stealing his small spoon while you were at it.

“I know you’re Kira…”

That took Light so off-guard, he forgot to deny it. You popped a sugar cube in your mouth, stirring your tea as you stared at his almost frightened expression. He was determining on killing you. But, that would make L even more suspicious. Nobody knew your real name but the Task Force. He couldn’t kill you. He could only trust you at this point. But, that was pretty damn hard when you bit his ‘girlfriend.’

“What do you want, (y/n)..?”

You knew he was talking about making you keep it quiet.

“I won’t tell… I just want you to break up with Misa…”

What? Break up with Misa? That was it? Wait. Now he understood. The way you would stare at him. The way you bit Misa out of what appeared to be jealousy. It all made sense.

“That’s it? No money? Nothing?”

You nodded, popping about five sugar cubes into your mouth. Light simply stared at you. Now that he looked past your strangeness, you were gorgeous. (H/l), (h/c) hair. (E/c) eyes that almost seemed crazy. (S/c) skin that complimented those eyes. You were perfect.

“Alright. I’ll break up with Misa.”

You simply gave a toothy grin, eating the rest of your sugar cubes and downing your tea in a minute. You got up, Light following as you headed back to the headquarters.

“You’re what?!”

You watched in hidden amusement as Light told Misa he wanted to break up with her, chewing on your nubs of fingernails.

“I just think we should see new people, Misa. I’m sorry.”

The model glared at Light, tears rolling down her face. She suddenly stormed out, Matsuda following her and trying to comfort her. Light gave an almost relieved sigh, sitting back on the couch. L glanced at you, noting the amusement in your eyes. You went back to your large dice tower, suddenly swiping an arm through it and knocking it to the ground. Everyone in the room jumped at the loud clatter, watching as you giggled. My God, you were a freak.

“Ryuzaki, (y/n) is outside in the rain again.”

L glanced over at Light, looking back at the window.

“I noticed… She’ll be fine…”

Light stared as you sat in the middle of the driveway of the headquarters, completely soaked. He sighed, walking down to the elevator before walking out the front doors. You didn’t even glance at him as he held out his hand.

“You’re going to get sick, you know.”

You finally glanced up at him. He was even cuter in the rain. You lightly nipped at his fingertips, watching as he suddenly retreated them. You obviously didn’t want to go anywhere. He gave another sigh, sitting next to you.

“Why are you so strange, (y/n)?”

You glanced at him, being silent as always. He decided to take a chance, lightly taking your face in his hands before he gently placed his lips to yours. You grabbed his bottom lip with your teeth, obviously not being romantic. He gave a small hiss of pain, jerking away.

“(Y/n), I’m not trying to hurt you.”

You looked in his brown eyes, almost confused. You gave a small nod, letting him kiss you this time. It felt…nice. You lightly kissed him back, almost wanting to grab his lip again as he pulled away. He simply gave you a smile.

“You’re such a freak.”

You smiled back, grabbing his shirt and pulling him closer.

“And you’re a murderer…”

He gave you a smirk, kissing you again. L just watched from the window, smiling slightly himself.
