I wish I could say that I understood any of what you just said, but it was so disjointed that I didn't follow it at all.

i'm saying, the human race at the beginning did not believe in god, had no concept of god. the word "god" did not exist. so we could say everyone was atheist. someone had to make god up at some point, that person would have been an atheist. so atheists invented god.

Bullshit. The first God was the sun. And then the clouds, storms... etc. We have free will, given by EVOLUTION (and it really worked out, as we are the dominant specie on the earth), but with it, we are trying to answer questions we can't really answer. "When world begun? When will it end? What is after the death?". Animals doesn't have free will - they follow instincts (we have these too, they are useful sometimes). They don't think about existence of God. They have other worst problems, like "survival". Once again, people invented God, to not be afraid of death. (at the first).

hi, I love your picture. I'm just wondering if there's anyway you can make it a jpg, and if so is it okay if I use it for the background on my computer? thanks.

Awesome. I'm pretty partial to the lyrics on the newest album, especially 1 000 000;
Put the gun
In my mouth.
Close your eyes
Blow my fucking brains out.

Yeah, I like 1 000 000, and Discipline. But still, the Slip isn't as good as his earlier stuff; bit of a disappointment.
Anyway, thanks for the fave and the words, mate, I appreciate it.

It is, it's vastly superior to a lot of the music on the market nowadays. I just don't think Trent has been as.. deep as he was back when he was completely fucked up on cocaine/heroin and depression.

You're very welcome. But really...you had to think that song placement was rather conviniently euphemistic...wasn't it?

xD "I am gonna come all over you"? I dunno, I always just saw it as the part in the album where the guy thinks "Oh shit, look what I've turned into". 's why the song makes me feel sad, not horny. xD I saw "A Warm Place" as being somewhere safe where you can mull shit over, like the womb or whatever. I dunno xD

True, but I always saw Big Man as the point of no return, being the final use of the Nothing Can Stop Me Now theme (Until the Fragile, that is.)...I guess it's just where it begins to climax. If you really want to think about "what the fuck have I become" the obvious choice would be the Becoming.

Yeah, but A Warm Place is where the guy realizes that the only way he can really fix everything is to rid the world of himself, hence why it leads into Eraser with its "Lose Me, Hate Me, Smash Me, Erase Me, Kill Me".

Exactly, which then fades into the Downward spiral where he narrates his own suicide, and then Hurt- where he watches his own corpse and realizes how he could have made his life work again.
Depressing? Not at all.

Oh I did?...I suppose that would be the final confrontation between the Reptile and the Heretic.
For a few weeks in June, I wrote out the entire scheme of the NIN albums as one continuous story, featuring to completely opposite male protagonists. It was actually quite fun...but I only got half way through With Teeth by the time I ran out of creativity...I kinda want to finish that now...

Yep, I flowed PHM and Broken as two stories happening simultaneously about the two protagonists, which then culminates into the fragile (again simultaneous with L+R) then flowing into the Downward spiral. The Heretic dies, so With Teeth was a solo story with the remaining protagonist. I think the slip will come next. I don't know I fi should include year zero.
Claudio Sanchez would've been proud....

i don't wanna downsize your work... but i don't like the way u used the cross in the design.
otherwise, i have no objections, it is a well designed piece of art.

Madbird-Valiant In reply to loveisarevolution [2009-03-26 09:15:21 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, I'm pretty proud of it.
The reason I used the cross is because the song/lyrics are, essentially, about God, and the most potent symbol for God that I know of is the Christian crucifix.

Jesus died on the cross to save us from death so we could spend eternity with Him... so using the crucifix as a symbol of 'Christianity' is understandable... yet emerging the cross into a poetic set of words (including vulgar ones)... i don't know... it just came across wrong on me.
Yet, as I said before... this is a cool design. I don't want to deteriorate your work.

Yes, but you see, I don't believe in God, and/or religion in general. I don't mean to offend or anything. Also, this is fairly tame for Trent's lyrics. If you want vulgar, read the lyrics to "Heresy".

loveisarevolution In reply to Madbird-Valiant [2009-03-27 02:53:35 +0000 UTC]
well, I believe in God, yet the whole 'Religion' thing is annoying. Religion is just human beings making rules for other humans to follow. 'Believing in God' is having a relationship with your creator who sent his only Son to die for us. It is to live out the rules Jesus set out for us to follow.
And what exactly do you mean by "in general"? And lol, no offence taken. God established free will and it is up to each and every one of us to believe as we wish. Someone could jam God down anybody's throat, but that isn't gonna make them believe.
(sorry for the novel)

In my opinion, 'believing in God' is humanity trying to explain things they don't understand. By 'in general', I mean I don't believe in any religion, or the institution of Church, God, Heaven, Hell, etc.

So answers to questions such as Creation for instance? I believe that Darwinism is a form of humans trying to 'create' answers to those adorned 'unanswered', unless one has Faith in God.
the Church is another story, yet Heaven, Hell, and such still exists.

Evolution and Darwinism make more sense to me than "Once, there was an all-being, all-knowing deity that got bored and decided to create existence". Evolution and the Big Bang have their holes, but they're not so obviously bullshit as Creation.
Heaven and Hell are, to me, the same as every story parents tell their children to get them to behave. "Don't make faces, because when the wind changes your face will stay that way", and so on and so forth. I believe that once you die, that's it. It's over. I take comfort in that.

loveisarevolution In reply to Madbird-Valiant [2009-03-30 03:32:40 +0000 UTC]
Well, you see Darwinism, Evolution, Neo-Darwinism, and even Punctuated Equiberium... all of these say that we as human beings derived from a simple, single celled micro-organism that was probably aquatic. How that organism got there, no one knows... Why it was put there, no one knows... How it exactly transformed over time into humans, no one knows... How long it took, no one knows... and on and on and on. So all the major theories of anti-creationists that I have studied have some serious questions that need answering.
Another issue that arises is the 'meaning of life'. Christians and other fellow believers believe that following the footsteps of Jesus and being a light in a darkened world is our call as believers. So what do you think the 'meaning of life' is? If there is no heaven, no hell, no 'afterlife' as some people relate to it as... then why are we here? why were we made? what is the real point of existing?
So you believe that the day when you die.... its over. it is finished, its done? And you find comfort in that?
Do you believe in a constant struggle during our earthly existence between a 'good' and 'evil'?

Madbird-Valiant In reply to loveisarevolution [2009-03-30 04:14:55 +0000 UTC]
I still believe Evolution makes a lot more sense than Creation ever will. I like to think that humanity is where it is today because it was better than the other creatures. We earnt our place, and evolved for it.
I don't believe in a meaning of life. I believe that you live as you live, and that's that. We're here because we were born, and we were made by two people who probably got a little drunk one night and didn't use protection. The real point of existing is surviving, however you can.
I find comfort in the fact that when I die, my life is over. I'm only 18 and I'm already sick of being here. I'll be glad that I can just lay down and rest, and not wake up.
"Good" and "Evil" are concepts, different to every person who considers them. The struggle cannot exist unless there are two defined sides, and there aren't.

And now he made you believe."
