I am not 100% sure (Please correct me if I'm wrong!) but I am pretty sure the bird in this photo is a Kestrel. According to the bird's handler, the bird was illegally hand raised and then kept as a pet by a well meaning individual (It was then confiscated). The bird was very attached to humans, and appeared to become distressed whenever his/her handler got too far away. This bird was one of many rescued birds of prey that were residing at a wildlife sanctuary I visited recently. The sanctuary was a wonderful place and a great experience, it was really nice to visit fellow rescuers who share my love of animals - even if their rescues are a little bit more "wild" than mine!
