In a world where seemingly anyone can become a god or goddess, one would think that a person would be foolish to commit a crime.

And of course you would be correct.

But every once in a while a criminal will luck out and target someone who is not a god and is not around a god. Of course, what exactly turns a person into a god is unknown, so this good luck has a very real chance of turning into bad luck as the victim might suddenly find themselves capable of bench pressing a whale.
