as a child, life seemed so easywaking up, finding mum, braiding my hair
now that i’ve grown up and feel older
it’s not quite as simple as it was
mum and dad are always busy so i pluck at my guitar
summer only brings hot weather so i never go outside

maybe it’s time for a change

when i moved on i realised nothing is fair
the sixth through the eighth grade weren’t any fun
now that i’m done i want to be young
i want my life simple like it was
filling with self-hatred so i strum on my guitar
