My family and I went to the Hawaiian island Kauai for vacation, and the last thing I expected was to see CHICKENS everywhere! Just walking alongside the road, joining us at picnic tables, and congregating in parking lots. We must have seen hundreds of them in that one week we were there. They were so funny, and so pretty--bright metallic colors, and all of them different. My mom called them "walking flowers."

We went to a fabric store there (well, only I "went"...the others might have been dragged) and I saw all this completely awesome batik fabric. The scrap packs I wanted totaled up to $40, but my parents bought them for me as long as I promised I would make them some little chickens.

So, Dad's is on the left, my sister's is in the middle, and Mom's is on the right.
