Meaning: Gengetsu - "Moon dog" Shitto - "Shittoshin - Envy"
Nickname: Yaku no nii (Envious big brother) English TV: Yaku
Moniker: Iki-Ryo no Yokuchi "The envious demon of Yokuchi" (rough personal translation/interperitation)
Personality:
Very protective against anyone who wants to lay a hand on Haruna. He loves her deeply and wished to wed her before she married Gaara. He constantly holds a grudge over the man who took her away from him and detests him, the Shukaku, and all manor of Jinchuuriki and tailed beast as a result.

To Haruna, he treated her with kindness, respect, generosity, and chivalry, and often considered her too young to make her own decisions even in her adult years, while to anyone else he seemed slightly agitated upon speaking with them - and still does. He attempted to prove his love to Haruna by trying to kill Gaara in a death match before she stepped in the way and begged him not to.

He may seem abusive, but he would not dare verbally or physically abuse Haruna at all or anyone she told him not to, only others around her in secret. He has a superiority complex towards many, especially jinchuuriki. He was later asked to help take care of Chiyuri by Gaara's side upon Haruna's death - it being one of her final wishes.

Gengetsu already was aware that Haruna was going to die - slowly turning to crystal from the inside out - long before Gaara or anyone else besides Haruna knew, due to his life release giving him a sixth sense to crystallization of nature chakra which he wielded the ability to crystallize his own chakra and plants from the village.

In remembrance of Haruna, Gengetsu often watches over Chiyuri from afar, even going so far as to team up with Gaara to save her from the council's grasp when they attempted to take Chiyuri from him. He treats Chiyuri with as much love and compassion as he treated Haruna, and pretends to appreciate Gaara in front of her to avoid Chiyuri thinking something is wrong. Secretly, Chiyuri is able to tell how Gengetsu truly feels about her father, but knows he loves her to death just as much as her father does as if she were his own child.
