For Inktober 2023, I'm doing a month of mythologically originating monster people that aren't just some variation of elf or dwarf.

A raven who drinks the blood of a slain king on the battlefield, Danish tales tell, is transformed. In some cases, it's granted magic powers, made into a knight, and in others a griffon-like wolf-crow. Valravn fill a nice niche of not being "Dur, me club you" dumb and violent. They lean militant and proper. Plus, unlike the Japanese Tengu, they aren't just a straight-up half-and-half monster (or racist European caricature, depending).
