Thanks!
Coming from a fellow writer, it's that much more meaningful.

Hhhmm, very graphic. It's interesting, I'm so used to seeing contemporary advertising done in similar ways, I keep trying to read it like an ad without a product. Like the way an ad peresents you with one core idea, say something like an ideal lifestyle, and the way of attaining it is this big O that you come to realize it's just nonsense. But it's hard to let go of the image, and think of it as nonsense.

i much prefer constructing the impulsive absurdities that endlessly entertain my inner child
instead of deconstructing them, as they generally collapse into unenlightened fragments on inspection.
i suppose much the same as a word losing its meaning once the letters that make it up are no longer in proper form.
the inky marks make me salivate.

Couldn't agree with you more.
As I read the first line of your comment, I immediately thought of you working on 'moonlight cab' and 'struggles'. Two extreme expressions of your inner child.
Those inky marks are actually tea stains that creeped into the frame (I left my sneakily dripping mug on it).
All absurd, all good.

I am green with envy of your graphic design talents! I love it, like I love all of your stuff..the layout is wonderful... the only thing that I dislike about the piece is how the hand and arm is blurry...if it was sharper, I think it would match better with the rest of the picture.

You are by far the smartest artist on my watch. Everything you do is so clever and unique. I really admire your style. Most of the time when I'm on the computer, surfing or whatever, I feel like I'm getting dumber, but looking at your art makes me think and I thank you for that. Keep on doing what you're doing.

I'm not sure how much I understood of this, as I am in quite a stupid mood today. But what I did understand (and enjoy) was the way in which I read it over and over, trying to figure any 'deep' connotations in your description, and then eventually realised you were just showing the word for what it is.
It's like when you say a word out loud so many times it becomes nonsensical. Or if you concentrate on anything, for that matter - I remember searching for a something in the dictionary and suddenly realising how absurd the letter 'b' looks.
Which, after reading rian's comments, is pretty much what he felt. Also I am flattered that you guessed I would find this.

madhs In reply to pename [2005-02-07 07:23:29 +0000 UTC]
you couldn't be stupid even if you tried.
The reason I was sure the two of you would get it is because you both write. And because you do, you know that words, sometimes are just that. A stringing together of alphabets devoid of any deeper significance or nuance.
The 'Stop reading into it so much' statment is such good advice sometimes.

pename In reply to madhs [2005-02-09 12:58:40 +0000 UTC]
i've often wondered as to the meaning of words. on one hand they carry huge performative significance, each word possesing the possibility to far outweigh a thousand actions; on the other hand they're just scrawled lines and gutteral sounds, most of them meaningless.
changing the subject: damn, but that's a fine avatar. seriously, that little shape is going to have its own fan club soon.

Yet another excellent piece of work from you.
