do you know how how to do this in photoshop elements?

sadly I do not because I don't think it has the liquefy stage but you can sub that with just using the blend tool till it looks about right? Might not be the same but I'm sure if you play a little you can get a similar effect. Then just play with opacity.

Thanks much for the great tutorial! The only problem I had was that there wasn't any white part in the middle of the fire. I found a way around that, though, but my photoshop crashed while I was trying out some other stuff. ">>

you can always work in new things! It's just a basic tutorial. I've seen people change alot of colors and add new things to it and even use it for other things that are not fire but smoke and stuff. It's kind of cool. I'm glad I could help.

Any time, the liquify stuff works for alot of other things too. I hope to have some other tutorials up soon. I've just not had much time.

I use a Mac and in the second step, the option-shift-E isn't working the way I want it to. All it does is change the layer mode to screen...

You might have your hot keys over written some how. Also need to have photoshop 7 or higher. If you do have these things and it's still not working let me know. In the mean time I'll look into it again. I apologize for it giving you issues. Lets see what I can find out. *^_^* sorry for not getting back to you right away as well. I've been out of town.

It was all going splendidly until I realized that photoshop 6 does not have a liquify tool.
Great tutorial though. At least I learned how go give things a cool glow!

Hmm...I'll see if I can find a way to do the same effect with a lower version. I think some blur settings and smug tools can get the same effect. I'll look into it.

Yep, they can...sorta. It's not quite the same.
I did improvise and used everything in your tutorial prior to liquefy to make this: [link]
So thanks anyway!

We've not got much up yet i'm still trying to drag a few people away from commissions but if you have questions we have about 5 people who do different things who can find the answer or make a tutorial for it. So far these are the only one's people asked for so...yeah...we'll working on it. ^_^

Oh I'm glad. Keep your eyes pealed for more. I'm working on more with fire since it seems to be a popular effect.
will also be open for problem solving and requests if there is anything you want to know or learn how to do. If we can't figure it out we'll find someone who can. Also if you have any ideas or art hints you want to share I'm sure we could get them posted. ^_^ Thanks for the comment.

-pokes you- feel free to watch by all means. And anyone willing to put their art up or willing to try to do something can be learned from and can learn. I really honestly believe that. Even if it's something simply as going over how to look at a shadow or how you go about doing something someone liked it counts! If there's a question you want answered or "how'd they do that" my club is big into that. It helps us learn and it helps others figure things out as well.
Check us out at
We are just starting out so hahah it's kind of not got a lot of Ende and Ryu's stuff up. -goes to look at your gallery-
Peace
