I'm glad that I listened to
That voice inside my head.
I took it as a warning,
As a sign for things to come.

And those things to come
Were episodes of Déjà vu.

One second you're fine,
Enjoying life.
The next you're frozen in place,
Your mind racing with thoughts.

And as you stand there as if paralyzed from head to toe,
Your sanity is questioned.
Are you just imagining things?
Why has this feeling overcome me?

While this moment of Déjà vu may last only a few seconds,
The mental scars are ever-so present.

For quite some time after
You continue to question your sanity,
Scared that it might happen again.

And then another episode doesn't happen for a few months,
And you forget about the whole experience and move on with your life.

Except when it happens yet again;
And a little more of your sanity corrodes away.
