Description

Kita cautiously looked around Route 36, her ears flicked back and forth listening intently to the area. Normally the beautiful Vulpix wasn’t quite so cautious with her step but for the others this route spelled danger. It was no ordinary danger however, but it was that of an enraged parent who had expected his daughter to wed Elliot, the man he had chosen for her. Her father Regis, the highest regarded Ninetails of this route, had to know by now that his daughter was missing.

Kita feared not only for his reaction to her capture but of what he might do to Crystal and the others. She had decided to scout ahead before they made their way to Ecretek City for her own sake of mind, it would be different if she came with a team, her father would surely act then think.

“Lady Kita!” Nina’s shrill voice echoed suddenly snapping the Vulpix from her troubling thoughts, her grass green eyes widened as the Nidoran girl approached quickly. “My lady! My lady! We thought you had been abducted! Especially when you went missing after meeting with that terrible Flaffy! Oh lady Kita, your father will be so happy to see you home safe and sound.” Kita watched as Nina breathed a visible sigh of relief, it hadn’t dawned on the young princess that Nina would surely face the tough side of her father. Kita winced slightly before forcing a smile at her former servant.

“Well y-yes Nina, it’s wonderful to see you as well. I…I didn’t mean to worry anyone…however about that Flaffy…” Kita started speaking before she froze, fear paralyzing her to the spot as she watched a tall, elegant, and intelligent Ninetails emerge from the surrounding foliage. “F…Father…” she stuttered slightly before bowing her head respectfully to the male who now approached her. She watched the ground in front of her trying to keep the fear from showing as she watched two creamy white paws appear in front of her. He was silent for a moment.

“Kita… daughter… you had everyone worried about you. You smell of common Poke’mon as well… where have you been…Kita?” A rich voice echoed through the air, though it was filled with intelligence it had a hint of coldness at the edges. He was angry… silently Kita wondered just how close he was to his breaking point, although she was sure he would reach it before their conversation was over. “Kita!... Where were you?” Regis asked his daughter again, his voice gaining volume.

“I…I’m sorry I worried you and everyone else Father. Um…I… I was… around… in the area…”

“Kita! Kita are you here? Kita where are you.” Two familiar voices called out for the Vulpix. Her green eyes widened as she watched her father’s golden ones narrow slightly in the direction of the voices she recognized as Tepi and Crystal before swiveling back to his renegade daughter.

“Ah! Father, don’t!” Kita yelped suddenly as her fear became etched across her face. An angry fire suddenly blazed in his golden eyes as he darted off towards the two. Turning on her heel she went to race off after him before she felt herself suddenly pinned to the ground. Looking back her green eyes suddenly burned angrily as she saw Nina holding her back paws down.

“My Lady no! Let your father deal with them, they will not bother you anymore!” Nina spoke looking to Kita as she misunderstood what the fearful gaze was for.

“That’s what I’m worried about Nina, and…I’m so sorry Nina, I hope you’ll forgive me.” Kita looked at her servant with a hint of sorrow before delivering a hard kick to the Nidoran’s left cheek before darting off after Regis to stop something terrible from happening.

“How dare you chase after my daughter! She will be no human’s slave; I would rather die before I see any of my line reduced to that.” Regis snarled in anger as he faced down Crystal, who Tepi had placed behind her.

“B-but we weren’t chasing her! She… she willingly joined us!” Crystal tried to explain to the clearly upset and very threatening Ninetails.

“Lies! I will not stand listening to your forked tongue!” Regis roared loudly making his presents even more intimidating as embers began to form in his mouth before he unleashed a blazing Flamethrower attack on the Togetic and her trainer.

“Tepi use Confusion!” Crystal ordered in retaliation against the attack. Tepi’s eyes glowed brightly as she unleashed a wave of purple energy to try to deflect the fire attack. The attack was barely deflected as a cloud of smoke covered the temporary battle field. Regis snarled again his golden eyes tinged with a hint of orange from anger as he barred his fangs at the trainer and her poke’mon.

“You are strong young one, but you are no match for me!” his angry tone echoed in the clearing as embers began to form again.

“Father stop, Crystal is telling the truth!” Kita’s voice echoed loudly as she burst onto the road where the three stood. Her sides heaved from the rapid run to make it before her father made a horrible mistake; she stood now in the middle of the battlefield between her father and her new trainer.

“What do you mean? You’re talking nonsense Kita…return home, now!” Regis’s eyes narrowed dangerously at his only daughter as he took in what she said, hoping it was a misunderstanding on her part. “Just because you decided to follow this human and her team around does not mean you b--”

“No father! You don’t understand! I allowed Crystal to capture me, I have not been following her around, I am linked to one of her capture capsules, I have battled for her… she…she’s my trainer and friend, and her team are my friends as well.” Surprisingly tears seeped into her grass colored eyes as she admitted what she had been hiding to her father. The Ninetails stood speechless taking in what his only daughter had just said to him, suddenly he turned towards Crystal and Tepi again.

“Give me the capsule, I will crush it with my own fangs and free Kita from your control!” The enraged Ninetails took a threatening step towards the two.

“Father it was my choice! I don’t want to remain here and be a simple wallflower princess! I…I have other dreams father and…” she paused glancing at the newly evolved Tepi as her eyes softened taking on an almost motherly look. “I now have others who are depending on me.” She turned to face Regis now, a hint of sadness in her gaze. “I will not return to our home father, even if you take away my reason to stay with Crystal I… I will continue to follow her. I’ve decided my fate and I will not change my mind.” Kita’s voice held no fear, although she was terrified to face down her father, as her fear nearly had her rooted to the spot. Regis looked at his daughter in silent shock as he listened to her, his temper just about to reach its limits as he breathed deeply trying to keep his calm. His gaze shifted to the human and her other poke’mon, which he recognized as a purebred as well. He observed them, taking a moment to realize that this Crystal… was at least a capable trainer to raise a fellow purebred to be able to handle such power. His angry gaze fell on Kita whose determined gaze met him.

“Do not return to this route and expect a home… you are no longer my daughter.” Regis spoke in a grave tone as he turned his back on her. Kita’s eyes widened in pain, although if her brother Kito had been any example, she had expected this but the pain she felt didn’t make it easy to accept.

“Father… I….” Kita began as she took a hesitant step towards him.

“I am no father of yours young Vulpix, you and your trainer should leave this route… NOW.” Regis’s voice echoed loudly with anger although there was a hint of sadness to his tone. Although the Ninetails would never admit it, this was his way of giving Kita what she wanted and saving face at the same time. Kita sat back on her haunches looking at the retreating figure of her father. She was sad, devastated in fact but Kita couldn’t say she didn’t know it was coming. She took a breath trying to keep her tears at bay, suddenly she felt a pair of arms wrap around her in a comforting hug.

“I’m so sorry Kita… I… I didn’t realize, didn’t even think that your family wouldn’t approve of you journeying with me.” Crystal spoke softly as she kneeled down next to the Vulpix who looked over at her.

“I’m sorry too, but you were so brave Kita, to stand up to him like that and… I’m glad you’ve decided to stay with us.” Tepi said softly looking at her with a small smile. Kita managed to give one in return.

“Neither of you should apologize, Crystal I knew what I was in for when I decided to go with you. I’m not the first of my siblings to want something different from what my father wanted, and Tepi, I couldn’t leave you so soon, there’s still so much I can teach you, though you’re growing up so fast.”

Regis watched his daughter from the cover of the woods a little longer, the anger in his gaze had been replaced with pain as he watched his little princess leaving their world. “Take good care of my daughter human… if I find out anything has happened to her, there will be a price on your head around here.” He spoke in a low tone before turning to return to his family and let them know Kita was no longer part of their clan.
