Description Ignis was invited to be the commencement speaker at Indra’s graduation ceremony. He couldn’t help but chuckle at the fact that he’s been invited to many events lately. Possibly because Indra was going to be there too.

Indra wasn’t sure if those behind the invites were pulling a fast one on her as a joke, or were seizing the opportunity to have someone of such status at their events. After all, the chances of him saying no would be less likely if Indra was going to be there.

Ignis took to the podium and recited his inspirational speech from near memory alone. To a hushed but enthusiastic crowd of students both young and old, making big steps towards their future goals. Indra, her friends, and Ramona amongst them.

Once all was said and done Ignis went to meet and greet everyone, saving his girlfriend and her entourage for last.

“Congratulations on graduating with honors love. You worked so hard,” Ignis said after hugging Indra.

“Thank you…are you staying for the party?” asked Indra after planting a quick kiss on his cheek. Leaving a faint print of her lips behind.

Ignis had thought long and hard about whether or not he wanted to stay prior. If he stayed it was guaranteed he would steal the spotlight from Indra and the students. He decided it was best to sit this one out.

“No, love,” Ignis nervously responded.

“What? Why?” asked Indra, seemingly upset.

“This is your moment. You should celebrate it with your friends and classmates,” Ignis answered.

“Come on Ignis! Stay and have some fun with your girl,” whined Amy.

Ignis shook his head no. Ramona was unable to hide her disappointment but she also agreed with his decision.

“I will pick you up tomorrow before dusk. Please wear that outfit again. We shall celebrate your achievement in our own way,” Ignis continued.

“Awe, ok,” Indra reluctantly agreed.

“That seems so romantic,” sighed Amy.

“Text me when you get back. Be safe and have fun,” said Ignis. Following up with another tighter hug and kissed Indra bye for the evening.

Hoping he won’t regret his decision later as he slid out of sight and down the empty halls. The loud chatter echoed throughout the halls.

Ignis makes his way out the door and was met with the Regalia and his chauffeur. He needed a moment to recoup and catch his breath before leaving the scene. It’s been ages since he’s been in a school environment and it made him feel old.

“Time flies,” Ignis sighs.

For the first time in a long time he really felt his age catching up to him.

Indra stays and parties all night with her friends and classmates. She didn’t take his refusal to stay personally. After all, he was right that this core moment was one she had to experience for herself.

“How was your evening?” asks Ignis as Indra slips into the backseat of the Regalia.

Her body ached and her head was still pulsating from all the loud music. She was a little hungover.

“It was fun, I still wish you would have stayed though,” said Indra while rubbing her temples. An attempt to soothe her alcohol fueled headache.

“I had my reasons. You may not understand now but you will soon enough,” Ignis said, standing firm on his decision.

Indra sighed, “I know. I’m not mad about it but…”

“You smell incredible today. I enjoyed how your dress felt against your skin last night,” Ignis complimented her. Attempting to change the subject without making her more upset.

“Hrm…I didn’t know you liked the smell of cheap perfume,” Indra chuckled.

“I have no interest in the rich perfumes of soulless people. It is you that I thoroughly enjoy the scent of,” Ignis countered.

It was undeniable that he’s become obsessed. Every encounter was always as intoxicating, if not more so than the last. He could never get enough of her, let alone her presence.

“You look very sexy yourself, if I might say,” Indra flirted.

“Thank you,” said Ignis.

Indra stared in adoration as he blushed.

While not as glamorous as his commencement speech outfit, he was still adorned in black and gold. Dressed to the nines in a black and gold suit. Indra raised her phone to take a selfie with him in the backseat of the Regalia. They’ve grown comfortable with the idea of taking selfies and sharing the occasional photo and video on the socials. Giving the public a tiny glimpse into their personal lives and relationship.

The ride got bumpy before coming to a stop. It appears they’ve gone off roading for the last lag of the drive.

“We have arrived Sir. It’s just up the hill and you’ll come across it,” said the chauffeur before getting out of the car and coming around to open the door for them. “I’ll wait for you two here.”

Ignis stepped out first to offer Indra his hand. Indra took it and carefully stepped out into the soft grassy area. If she knew where they were going she wouldn’t have wore heels. Before taking the first step her heel already sunk into the grass and she tripped, but Ignis was there to catch her.

“Be careful love,” Ignis said before hugging her and planting a passionate kiss.

“You should have told me we were going for a walk in the park,” she laughed.

She wriggled her heel free from the soil and moved her balance towards her toes. Ignis turns around and leads her up the hill hand in hand. Indra tip-toes her way up, hoping not to get stuck in the grass again.

“Not just for a walk…” said Ignis as they walk over the top of the hill and come to a stop.

“…a picnic,” said Ignis with a smile.

Indra gasped, “it’s so beautiful.”

A patterned sheet with pillows, a small table with food, whine, champagne, gifts, a lit up sign with the illuminated words “love,” and flowers laid out before them. Up ahead was an incredible view of the city with the sun slowly fading from behind. Nearby was wait staff from Ignis’ restaurant for their sunset dinner. Ready with more dishes for their three course meal. A little further ahead sat a small string quartet surrounded by fake candles. The band began to play their favorite songs.

“Once again, congratulations! I am so proud of you,” said Ignis.

Indra’s eyes began to water with joy. His words thundered through her chest. These little picnics have become such a grand gestures of love and affection.

“What a pleasant surprise! Thank you. I love you,” Indra sobbed while trying not to ruin her makeup as she dabbed away her tears with her dress sleeve.

“I love you more,” said Ignis.

He turned toward Indra to hug her, slowing her tears and kissing her wet cheeks until she stopped crying. His hands would glide up and down her back, stopping for a moment at her tiny waist. Squeezing her a little tighter each time.

Skipping ahead of things to post this piece that used another one of Indra’s older models.

This one takes place when Indra finally finishes school and graduates. Ignis and Indra always seemed to have a thing for picnics. There’s some pieces I have yet to post but there is at least one more. It would make sense as Ignis spent a great amount of his life camping and dealing with the outdoors. I feel he almost misses it as it’s not something he gets to do often anymore.

I laugh at how Indra’s graduation look almost looked like Cher in a doiley. Maybe it’s because of how her hair came out. I didn’t want her to wear white for grad day but seeing as it had flowers and was mullet dress, it would work perfect for the great outdoors later. One thing I noticed was how much taller than him she appeared but that’s because she’s standing on the higher point of the hill. So I reluctantly left it alone. After all, this is moment was hers so why can’t she be the center of attention for a minute?

I think the hardest part to write was the compliments, because he’s blind. It was Indra’s graduation so she had to look extra nice for the event. He does know she’s attractive but how to convey the things he likes about her without it being about looks alone? Blind people have said they tend to fall for tone, and scents, and the rest becomes clear. It’s really not all that different from everyone else. I always imagined Indra smelling a little sweet and spicy, with a touch of fruit. Basically Hugo, Deep Red if anyone remembers that perfume way back in the 90s. Complimenting her on those things makes the most sense. Especially since it drives Ignis crazy and he’s literally obsessed.

I wanted to keep this piece short as it was in the original draft but since the story is being posted in pieces, I have to add some backstory to the scene to make up for it. I’m sure I’ll be splitting it up a bit more later.

There’s still a lot missing from the progression of their relationship but I’ll get to it one year. I’m still slowly filling in the gaps as I go along.

While it isn’t a Valentine’s Day piece it’s so romantic that it works. Picnics seem to be their thing lately and he always makes it so romantic. He just knows how to romance Indra to bring her to tears almost every time. She’s never been loved on properly and it shows.

Anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day!
