Day 4: Before the Last Sunset / Pre-World of Ruin

Now orphaned and alone. Indra and a ragtag group of misfits, mostly composed of other orphans fight to survive for some time.

It had taken a while for Altissia finally fall. Indra wasn’t much of a team player and would only meet with the others to eat, catch up on the news, and rumour mill. Sometimes exchanging supplies and selling what she could loot from stores, Nif corpses, and technology for a scrap of Gil. Altissia has become unruly, a waste land, slowly being invaded by Daemons. What Levithan didn’t kill back then, the mold from the rotting structures, political unrest, and violence between those that remained would. The fact that the evacuation efforts had grind to a halt for years left many feeling abandoned by the Royal Empire.

Indra had developed an annoying cough and pain that wouldn’t go away. It would linger and on the worst of days, incapacitate her. She wasn’t sure if it was caused by her near death experience or if she had gotten sick from the mold too.

It was time for another gathering by the bonfire and she gazed into the flames wondering what she did to deserve all this.

“The nights just keep getting longer and longer,” mumbled Ashe.
“I heard they have resumed the evacuation efforts. People have been disappearing. I think Altissia is about ready to fall,” said Sharon.
“Why didn’t anyone make that information public?” asked Corey. Prying open a can of beans and passing it to Indra.
Sharon scoffed, “Probably leaving it to natural selection. They know they can’t save everyone. Least they need is a riot.”
“Then we need to leave,” said Indra. Stifling a cough behind her cloak.
Cory laughed, “You think they’re going to take you? You’re sick! They’d probably think you’re going to turn into one of those monsters.”
“We can’t leave! This is our home,” cried Karen.
“If we don’t it will become our graves too,” warned Indra. “We have nothing to lose but our lives.”

After eating beans from the moldy can with a tarnished stainless steel spoon, she set off into the night. Time had ceased to exist. What felt like days was actually weeks. Nobody was keeping track anymore. Indra took it upon herself to investigate the rumors and find more leads about this new rescue mission. After hearing tips, and exchanging goods for information, she finally finds a way. Making it on to the last boat out. Unaware of what would happen to those left behind. However, it was a battle for survival and she want ready to give up yet.

Upon arrival to Cape Caem she was met by Weskham, who took her and other refugees in. Unfortunately she ran into nobody she knew. Maybe they didn’t make it. Maybe they were already filtered out stationed already. Indra decided that she wanted to join the fray and fight along side with the Comrades. She was treated for her cough, luckily it was just an infection that ran its course for too long. Then she was allowed time to heal. However, the pain still lingered, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to help. Eventually Weskham determined she’d be a good fit for life in Lestallum and she was sent there as the sun set for the last time.

This was one of my favourite pieces of the series to make. I really liked her outfit the most as it was heavily inspired by Lucia from Devil May Cry 2. She’s about 14 here as I do recall Altissia taking a few years or so to fall. It was eventually abandoned when it was overrun with Daemons. Not that there was much left worth saving, besides survivors.
