x3 Heh. This was harder to write than it seems...For those who don't know for some reason, a "Mary-Sue" is an original character (usually female) inserted into fanfiction. This OC is usually perfect and beautiful in all ways, and has a romantic relationship with the author's favorite character.
I know there's probably a better category to put this in, but the new deviantArt submission system is being a bitch >_>; I'll just have to change it later. Sorries.

So this is what a Mary-sue thing is.-_- Well I'm on either side, I don't really care if there's many uchihas, or just many Hyuuga's , etc. That's why their known as OC's.-_-; I have one of an Uchiha, sure she looks odd, almost that like character that got caught in this funny Picture, although that's just imagineation.

lol ^^ i've barely found any oc fanfics in the naruto cat. and definately no mary sue ones...how bad are the naruto ones (the beyblade ones are terrible, and breed at the speed of light - i swear!)

Heh. I like Kakashi's line 'You might be better bait than I am. We mustn't forget that many Naruto-Mary-sues wear either very little clothing or incomprehendable amounts of fishnets. Not to mention beat up characters the author doesn't like.

You're my hero [just like everyone who bashes Mary-Sues]! Although, not all OCs are Mary Sues. I have read one or two fanfictions with reasonable and not-more-beautiful-than-everyone-else OC. But, yeah, 99,9% of OCs are Mary Sues.
*No offense to Mary Sue lovers [if there are any] and/or writers. That's just my subjective opinion.*

*shrug* Even if an OC isn't a Mary Sue, I for one don't think OCs have a place in fanfiction. Readers read fanfiction to get more of the story or character they love. Well, maybe OCs as minor characters are fine. Like, "shop owner" or "prison guard", but main characters are a bit much.
XD And I *DO* mean offense to Mary Sue writers/lovers. They're a bane on the face of fanfiction.

You're so right! People can use OCs as a simple character, whom readers will forget after a few sentences, but if she/he/it starts giving advices or being oh-so-wise then it's really annoying.

Actually...a "Mary-Sue" denotes an original character that is highly UN-original; a generic, cliche or otherwise "see it a thousand times before and I'm getting tired of it," kind of character.

I know, I just thought it amusing that ALL "OCs" in fan-fiction are labeled Mary-Sues from the get-go. Indeed, those little 12 year olds should think about what they're writing before they toss it up on the wonderful internet.
