Can I make a request for a tutorial? I wanted to know how you make really good exspressions since I've been having trouble with that and I feel like everything I draw has one expression that I always do :/

That's all

I got mine off ebay but you can get them on various places online or at hobby lobby/micheals or any other art store!

Yeah they are super expensive! Try ebay though! I got mine (50 or so total) for $60. I've only had to buy a few here and there when I needed a specific color I didn't have but the price I got was such a steal since they usually go for $7 per marker.Β

These are nice though because they are actually refillable. I've had mine for about two years now and haven't had to refill yet so they last pretty long!

If you like traditional art, I'd really recommend you give them a try when you get the money. They are a lot of fun to work with!

Ebay huh, never thought about that (uber blonde moment)

I found these, do you think its a good price?

I never knew they were refillable O,0

Thanks so much for the reply!

I think that's actually just the stand for them since in the description it says "wire stand only". The title is kind of misleading, otherwise that would be an amazing deal. O:

Do any kind of markers work? :,)

I would assume so, yes! I've used the same technique with prismas and they worked fine. I just personally like copics more. I don't know how well crayola would do since those are water-based, not alcohol based.

Oh, that's interesting! ^^
Just another question,
How did you mix up the colors? (for ex.: the eyes)Β
Everytime I try to mix up colors with markers, they end up flat. >_<

First I colored the whole thing with blue, I believe it was B00. After that I layered over a bright yellow, which turned the color lime green. Before the colors could dry all the way, I used a darker green to go around the bottom edge of the eye. Since copics are alcohol based, they mixed really well when they are still wet.

There is also a colorless 0 marker that's basically just the alcohol. Sometimes I use that to blend as well.

Ahh, lucky!! Sadly, my laptop broke for some reason and now I'm focusing on traditional art,
hmm maybe if I grabbed on alcohol and dabbed it on Cottonettes (those small sticks with cotton on the end) it could probably work like a colorless marker? And then for bigger areas, I could use Cotton balls. :3 If that would work of course. XD

magicmudcat In reply to nerdb0x [2015-04-14 23:56:39 +0000 UTC]

That might work! I don't know how the alcohol + water based markers would look together but it's totally something you could try Β

oo I have no many traditional tools yet haven't really worked with them.
Sadly I don't have copics, only a small collection of prisma pencils, a bunch of various sharpie pens.
In other words, shading colours seems to be what I'm lacking however your tutorial is really useful and I'm tempted to give
traditional drawing another go C:

I used to use prismacolor pencils until I discovered markers and ahh... never going back. I love them so much ;__;

I wish I could help more with using colored pencils but I haven't used them in years D:

I struggle so much with them that I've sort of put myself off <<;
They're so hard to use D8 at least prisma colours blend your strokes
unlike the pencils you had in school <<

Yeah same D: I just hated the white bits that never seemed to go away... so many people can make wonderful drawings with them but I just never could :c

Markers are more solid.. I guess? lol. You can make them look a lot like a digital image, which is what I'm used to.
