Due to the numerous requests and comments about using this tattoo as reference, I have decided to clarify my feelings regarding this. It is my wish that people please not copy my tattoo in its entirety, it is something very personal to me and it is my hopes for it to remain a unique tattoo.
While I do not mind the use of it as reference material for your own personal tattoo design or any other form of art, please, please, please, DO NOT copy my tattoo in its entirety for use as a tattoo design.

I love your tattoo, I would never copy it, but i want the monarch butterflies like you have. That is how I found your tattoo, I searched monarch butterfly tattoo on google. I am planning to get a tattoo of monarch butterflies going all the way up my back, the last one on my shoulder blade, open like your top one, but at a different angle. That is how I envisioned my tattoo, and when I saw yours, I thought it was beautiful. Someone said some rude things to me saying that I am terrible because I want to steal someone's work. I never said I want this exact tattoo. I am planning to use your tattoo as a reference, but I would never get the same one. I am going to have my artist draw a custom piece for me, while it's similar to yours, having realistic orange butterflies going up your back, mine will have the butterflies going all the way up like I said previously, and have my top butterfly on my shoulder blade. And will be MY custom drawing. So people should'nt get mad at me, lots of people have a tattoo of a butterfly, It's like a person getting mad because someone got a rose tattoo on there leg, and someone has a rose tattoo on their leg first, and people know and say they copied off of the other person, when their rose is red and the others is blue.

As beautiful as it is, i find it sad that people copy it. I even found a girl who only switched the last huge butterfly,who's running into a best quebec tattoo contest with this on facebook. I find it very sad.

Usually I'm not a fan of large tattoos, but that's nice work there and looks like it "fits", if that makes sense.

Would you mind if I got just one of those butterflies tattoo'd? They're just so beautiful and I haven't found any other nice monarch butterfly tattoos to reference. And I would only use one of them, possible the first or second one down, since those two are my favorite. I just wanted to ask first before I got it.

Thank you for asking before going ahead and getting it done. I mean if you really are dead-set on getting one of them, I guess its fine, however I would suggest you work with your artist to come up with something unique because that is what I did. Find a picture of a butterfly you like and work from there. My tattoos are based on photos which is why I dont think it would be all that hard to just find some butterfly pictures and come up with something different. In the end, it is up to you.

Did you take a picture of it closer up? I have a picture of this on my phone but it's closer in, randomly found it on the internet just as a reference for my tattoo. I'm getting a few butterflies (much smaller then this) flying up my shoulder blade towards my neck done in no outline and soft colours. It's not going to be the same colour as this or the same as this just a reference in case the tattooist needs one as I have no design, I'm hoping he will do what will look best (sure he will!). I do love this tattoo especially how the butterflies have motion in them. I rarely see butterfly tattoos that don't look trashy and this really doesn't

My artist probably took more than one picture of my tattoo when it was finished. There are quite a few pictures of my tattoo on the internet so I wouldnt be suprised if the pic you have is me lol.

You are right to keep this design as your own and copyright it. It is a beautiful homage to the Monarch which is becoming endangered. Wonderful!

Definitely one of the most elegant tattoo's I've seen. It is both very simple, and complex at the same time. Great movement, wonderful color. It suits your skin and the shape of your back very well.

i personally guard my tattoo from cameras and internet, and im very pal pal with my tattoo artist because he designed my tattoo himself in front of my eyes and he agreed not to tattoo anyone else with the design, (well it is his 'personal signature' on me)
trusting strangers for not stealing is hard for me so i dont post stuff up on the internet
