PLEASE CREDIT. Don't edit these.

Here are some terrace tiles I've made. There should be a lot of variety in what you can make with them and I've given a small example.

The tree and bush tiles are on my other sheet here: magiscarf.deviantart.com/art/B…

-----------

Edit: Made another version without grass and some other things. Also, the rocky hills can also be found on the above link to my other tiles.

-----------

There's an updated version (not completely compatible with these tiles) over here: magiscarf.deviantart.com/art/B…

I think these tiles look great. i don't see much need to edit them either way if I would use them. Not much to improve on them really. i love the coloring, the amount of wall tiles, window tiles and stairs etc. allows for a lot of variation too

Why "don't edit?" You are generous, but refuse to collaborate. Thanks anyway

If you want tiles to edit then use the ones on my big free tilesheet as there are more of them and they're better made than these.

Don't worry, I didn't sell it or anything. Here's what they look like in-game! (I haven't got the inner corner pieces set up yet)

Very nice! I love your art! I think I might use a lot of it in a future game if you don't mind!

Is it okay that I use these and edit them so that they fit in with my tile's style?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Magiscarf In reply to Rayquaza-dot [2013-09-23 14:27:37 +0000 UTC]

Something like a palette swap would be okay, but I would prefer you didn't make big edits.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rayquaza-dot In reply to Magiscarf [2013-09-23 14:42:53 +0000 UTC]

Well the edits I would need to make would be to the grass, trees and cliff/rock. No edits to the actual houses.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Magiscarf In reply to Rayquaza-dot [2013-09-24 00:37:26 +0000 UTC]

Well, the trees aren't even integrated with this set so you can use what trees you like, and I guess if you wanted to change the grass that's okay, too. Not sure what you would do withe the rocks though.

Rayquaza-dot In reply to Magiscarf [2013-09-24 09:39:19 +0000 UTC]

If that's okay.

Rayquaza-dot In reply to Magiscarf [2013-09-24 09:38:49 +0000 UTC]

I'd probably edit the palettes.

Magiscarf In reply to Rayquaza-dot [2013-09-24 14:28:11 +0000 UTC]

That's okay then

Rossay [2013-09-23 09:38:43 +0000 UTC]

The reason I really like these is that although they would fit perfectly in a Pokemon game, they would also look good in other 2D RPG games. Your style is really evolving beyond just being a Pokemon-artist!

Magiscarf In reply to Rossay [2013-09-23 14:31:07 +0000 UTC]

What a great way to describe my inconsistencies! But really though, thanks.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rossay In reply to Magiscarf [2013-09-23 14:44:07 +0000 UTC]

Haha. It's nice to see people develop as an artist; I'd love to see what you'd do if you were just to sprite some generic RPG tiles without the constraint of the Pokemon-genre theming.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Magiscarf In reply to Rossay [2013-09-24 00:33:05 +0000 UTC]

Not really sure what the boundaries of Pokemon-genre and generic RPG are so that would be a surprise to me, too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rossay In reply to Magiscarf [2013-09-24 09:45:03 +0000 UTC]

I just meant that if you sat down to sprite a tileset from scratch, like a 16x16 or 32x32 without thinking about any game in particular, it would be interesting to see what you'd make.

Maybe I'll do that someday.

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but I'd prefer you didn't edit my tiles to make something if that's what you're thinking.

"There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of coloured glass that have been in use through all the ages."

That's a bit more fitting than 'stealing them' ..

You have an amazing understanding with joining colour and outline. It is one of the rare situations where, you're really good at knowing where to put in darker outlines and where not, and how to blend them well. It is with this uniqueness, that I say that the style used here is perfectly original and a very suitable combination for a game world. I look forward to see more of this kind.

Magiscarf In reply to AntiSpriteTheft [2013-09-17 02:58:11 +0000 UTC]

Really, I think these are just a happy accident. I'm glad they turned out as well as they did, but I need more practice to pull this level of work off consistently.

I understand. Nevertheless, it always seems to be that your tiles pull off well.
