In Orlanthi mythology Vinga is either the daughter of Orlanth or Orlath himself in female form (depending on who you ask). She is the goddess of women who want to do men's job and is the only way in Orlanthi society that a woman can have access to the Air rune.

Since in Orlanthi society gender roles are more or less unrelated to physical gender, Vingans are usually just counted as men. Called Red Women, her devotees cut their hair short (uncommon amongst all Orlanthi, male or female) and dye it bright red, honoring an ancient pact that their goddess made in the God Time.
