In actual Greek mythology, Hades is the reasonable one. Yes, that guy right there was the nicest of the bunch.

That's a joke, right? Hades is the Lord of the Dead; ie, not a particularly nice fellow. He's about as reasonable as (actual Greek mythology) Zeus is faithful to Hera.

Nope. He has screwed over the least amount of people out of all of them except for that one smith guy. The closest he actually got to villainy was when he kidnapped Persephone. Compare that to what all the other gods did (except the smith guy) and that's not nearly as bad as the rest of them.
All those times in media where Hades is the bad guy is just modern western influence that required the death guys to be evil.

The smith guy...I imagine you're referring to Hephaestus, the god of the forge and labor?
And what Hades did to Sisyphus was an act of charity?

Yeah, that guy.
Not sure who Sisyphus is, but overall, Hades has one of the lowest "random bystanders killed" counts in the myths.

Sisyphus tried to cheat death by convincing Persephone (daughter of Demeter the Goddess of the Harvest...and Hades' wife) to allow him to return to the world of the living. Hades wasn't too happy about that, so he dragged Sisyphus down into Tartarus (the Greek's equivalent to Hell) and forced him to roll a large and ridiculously heavy boulder up a steep hillside every day...only for the boulder to roll down the hill again.

Ok, that's kind of a dick move, but it's not really evil. Heck, I'd say Sisyphus kind of deserved it. Think how any other grim reaper would have reacted of a dead person tried to cheat death. He got off light. He could have had his liver eaten daily instead.

Ah, yes...Zues' punishment for the titan Prometheus for giving fire to mortal man.
