they were inspired by deer, foxes, and ferrets/weasels mostly with a hint of bunny

deer and fox....damn. I had this exact same idea...well not exact same but the name and the fox deer hybrid. Now that i know it is already a thing i guess I will not pursue it..

These are actually more like ferret-deers ahah, but either way I don't hold any exclusive rights to mixing animals into fantasy creatures and I'm pretty sure I'm not the first one to go for these combos, so don't let this stop you. You'd probably want to go for a different name to avoid confusion but aside from that anything goes.
