Dock - The point where the tail meets the body.

A lot of artists (show and toys included), make it look like they just have a tail coming out their plot.
A horse's or pony's tail is actually a flesh and bone tail extending from the spine.
Long hair grows from the tail giving it the traditional appearance.
Zecora's tail is a good idea of what a pony tail looks like if you take most of the hair away.
(Zebras tend to have the longer hair replaced with a tuft of hair at the end).

Thanks for explaining it for me. I knew ponies, zebras, etc. have that so I always draw it.
