---------<  Estrada  Real  >---------

The Estrada Real (Royal Road) was an important transport route in Brazil in the 17th century, created by the then King of Portugal Dom João, with the aim of bringing shipments of gold and diamonds and sending supplies to the interior of the colony.

The route, approximately 1630 km long, starts in the city of Diamantina in the north of the state of Minas Gerais, and continues south to the city of Vila Rica (current Ouro Preto), in the center of Minas Gerais, where it splits into two wheels, one to the southwest and another to the southeast, which ended respectively in the port cities of Paraty and Rio de Janeiro, where tons of gold were sent to Portugal.

After about two centuries of abandonment, in 2001, the Brazilian government in partnership with the private sector, revitalized the Estrada Real, but as a tourist route, where it is possible to enjoy rich culture and stunning landscapes, making it an important source of revenue, cultural preservation and national pride.

The contemporary royal road adopts an emblem that is used on plaques, ornaments and souvenirs throughout the region. This minimalist-style emblem consists of the letters E and R followed by a small cross, below a crown, all within a white shield in Polish style.

Honestly, I think the current emblem is reasonable, but not adequate. Therefore, this is my proposal for a new emblem, which consists of an Iberian style shield in green with golden elements, national colors, these elements being an inverted pall symbolizing the map of the route, with green five-pointed stars representing the main cities of the route, Diamantina, Ouro Preto, Paraty and Rio de Janeiro, and in the remaining spaces there are the letters E, R and B of Estrada Real do Brasil (Royal Road of Brazil).
